What does everyone else in THR do to make a living?

Geek.

I fix computers. I listen to people tell me about their endless, all too run of the mill computer problems. My shopmate's got it worse, though. He's phone support for the ISP side of the company. "The Internet's down."

"I've been everywhere, man, I've done everything..." Uh,... anyway

I got into electronics in the late 40s and played in that field most of my life, designing things that you get to cuss at when they don't light up the way YOU want them to. Radio receivers, transmitters, comm systems, computers, programs, networks, data shops, analysis shops and other such junk that people just HAD to have. I worked for mysolf for a good bit of that time. I'll NEVER for that S.O.B. again.

Now I drive school bus. They pay me (not a lot) to play with kids and then give them back. :D

"Aerospace" Engineer. I'm 5 months away from finishing my Ph.D. at UW. I'll finally have a real job! My wife will be happy! My kids will be happy. I'll be happy! I hate school! Get me outa here! :D

Warehouse clerk and shipping manager with a very small, locally owned industrial supply company. I love working for those folks. The owners and most of the employees are big gun fans. I'll never work for a huge, disorganized, mismanaged multinational conglomerate again...

Hadn't seen it out there, but...

...I know I'm not the only one on the boards.

I'm a Correctional Officer for the TDCJ. Or, as I prefer to put it, "Professional Screw."

I get to work in scenic surroundings, among interesting people, in a fast-paced environment with unlimited opportunities for advancement. At least, that's what they tell me in Human Resources... :uhoh:

Heh, well, all my teachers TOLD me I'd wind up in prison, someday... :neener:

Beverage Container Relocation Specialist. Also known as a truck driver. Next time you crack a tallboy, be it beer, arizona tea, or an energy drink, think of me!

This has to be the fastest growing thread in history.

IT Specialist (Software Development)
USDA Forest Service

Is that a busy occupation in a place that, by definition, has no electricity or network connections? :D

I'm a retail worker. Have been for a while. Probably will be for a while. If anyone needs someone that is okay at a lot of things, but doesn't have a paper saying he is, let me know.
