FALLUJAH,a sniper's dream

I don't think those guys are too willing to go to 10,000 year old virgins
there's probably a good reason they're still virgins;)
GUNSMOKE

A Web site, linked to the insurgents, attempts to provide information on snipers and their family members.

This brings some questions to mind. Are the insurgents counting on terrorist cells or liberals to bring "heat" upon the familiies? Who is providing the information on the snipers and families? Where is this website located and why hasn't it been hacked yet?

. . . the insurgents have demanded that the Marines pull back their snipers.
Sounds like a good reason to send in MORE! Maybe including some with suppressed .22s like the Israelis used for a while . . . a non-fatal leg wound coming from "nowhere" will take the insurgent out of the battle for a while, and make his buddies either care for him or ignore him. Either way, it would wear on morale. (And if he shows up at a hospital or aid station . . . treat him and then lock him up!)

Snipers are a must have in this type of battle...

When you are young, you're filled with honor, duty, even hate...but when you get older, sometimes you have to pay for watching the "pink cloud" through a scope.

True. something changes the older we get.

Subsonic ammo...

Regarding subsonic ammo -- bearing in mind that extended range is one of the sniper's best friends, you certainly don't want to use anything on the low end power wise. I can't imagine us using subsonic ammo or suppressors for sniping. Now a suppressed H&K USP Mk 23 .45ACP as a backup weapon sounds nice, and those things are tack drivers! If only I had $1700 to spend on a pistol. But I digress...

Remember, being on the receiving end of a sniper's job doesn't sound like "Bang! Splat!" it sounds like "Splat! ... ... ... Baaaaaaaaaaaaaang" -- the round hits, and there's a delay depending on how far the shot was taken from, then the gunshot typically echoes. Muzzle flash wouldn't be much of an issue except at night, as the targets wouldn't know where to be looking for it until after the round hits.

Just my $0.02.

This story now confirms an article in the English language version of al Jazeera. The Iraqi doctors reported that most of the dead and wounded insurgents they have seen have been suffering from gun shot wounds. This is in and around Fallujah.

Read both books, Letters, and Hathcocks book. Both really good, although Carlos went into better detail on his missions, and more on the long shot he made, using a .50MG. Awsome story!:D

I read about Hathcock. The 2500 yard shot was done with a cycle down .50 BMG so that it fired only one round at a time. I think Hathcock had put out yardage markers first to determine the distance.

Hathcock supposedly had 93 confirmed kills and about 300 unconfirmed kills.

Amen on the RIP for Carlos

He was a long time sufferer of MS. Believe me it's a effing miserable way to go. Lost my sister in law at 35 to it. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.
