i ask cause maybe a hollow point won't be fast enough to penetrate far enough.

im thinking of rotating carbon +p hp and some round nose 9mm. yes? no?

I have a PF-9, and I have no problem with HP. I use CorBon DPX, but if you are worried about it, you can always go with PowRBall ammo. Feeds like ball, works like HP. Also there is an EFMJ (expanding full metal jacket) load out there, but no one near me seems to have it, so I haven't tried it. You can use +p ammo in the PF-9 sparingly, (but not +p+ I think) so speed and penetration shouldn't be a problem.

Round nose (ball) ammo for practice, HP for carry. I suggest carrying a round that is common to LE agencies like the Speer Gold Dot or Federal Hydra-Shok.

Hopefully if you have the newer style barrel you can carry ball or HP with no problems. If you have the older style barrel, ball shall work better. I have a newer barrel and carry HP due to 9mm tendency of over penetration in ball. PF9s by the way will take +p ammo

A quality hollow point self defense round would be my choice, as long as it proves to be reliable in your gun.
