i bought it brand new a few weeks ago. first of all it would jam every time i cycled the .380 ammo through the gun but when actually firing, it worked fine every time. i passed 50 rounds through it with no problem.

but today i went shoot it and it failed to cock the hammer twice!

should i send it back to tel tec or just sell it. im not very excited about keeping this gun.

what about the kel tec pf-9? has anyone had bad experiences with them?

or should i get a taurus .357 snub nose for about $300?

KelTec is really good about fixing their guns that don't work right (first-hand experience here).

This is probably because:

a. They're a really good company, run by good people who stand behind their products, and

b. They've had lots and lots of experience fixing returned guns.

I think both of the above are true.

Anyway, give them a call, they'll take care of you.

i figured out the problem. i wasn't letting the trigger go all the way forward before pulling it again. this caused it to not cock.

You should also do the Fluff & Buff to keep things going smoothly. Look it up on the KTOG forum. There are some detailed instructions.

This is something you will need to practice, especially when training for double/triple taps. Dry fire (with snap caps) and get used to the double reset on the trigger. You can distinctly hear the first and second clicks. Get your trigger finger accustomed to the travel required to reset.

That, and make sure the trigger pin isn't backing out. That can cause the hammer to not cock all the way (and then not release).

The trigger pin is a pin literally in the trigger - if the trigger was gone and the pin was long enough, you could just pull the pin. Look at the back side if the trigger, and you'll see it. If it's not way up in there, put some loctite on it and push it in. It should click in, and shouldn't come out again if you got loctite on it.
