**This guy was truely a work of art and the story really doesnt pass on how arrogant he was....just a note! It may sound as though Im coming across as being pompess but you had to be there....K?*****

The other day I was in a friends pawn shop just killing sometime while my son looked at nintendo games....cheap for me!

This guy comes in and looks at the guns. My buddy and I are a little into guns :scrutiny: and the guy is asking about the Sigs, Colts, Kimbers...higher end stuff.

He says "Can I see your Makarov?". My buddy says sure...So the "Mak Pro" plays with the gun for a minute and haggles with my buddy for a minute on the price and they agree at a number.

The Mak Pro says "I want it but, I dont buy guns I cant inspect!" I notice this guys attitude...very stand offish! He says "Can I tear it down and look at it?" My friend who is usually a very easy going guy..seriouly, "If you can take it down and get it togethor again"...

At this point our Mak Pro looks totally offended and says "Well, I hope I can do it..Ive had a dozen of these over the YEARS!" Total A$$! Man!

**Now the great part*** This guy fights with this Mak for at least 5 minutes....cant do it! :D

(Sorry, I have to add at this point...my son was tapping me on the shoulder..saying "Dad, can I help him?" I just nodded NO..."Just watch" and winked at him. My son could have helped him too...oh well. )

He finally sets the gun down on the counter pad and tells my friend "This gun is defective! You are selling broken guns to the public?" With more attitude than ever!..... :fire: :cuss:

I took offense to this because:

1) This guys an obvious idiot!
2) I know my friend and he's a stand up guy
3) Iv'e played with THIS mak and its a fine little gun.
4) Did i mention he's an idiot?

My friend, who is trying his best to keep his cool, hands me the gun...I drop the mag, trigger guard, rack the slide...lift and put the pcs on the counter in front of the guy.......no words were spoken....just silence.

At this point my son hands me the game he wants and I pay my buddy.
I want to leave..as Im late by now..but want to stay....ssssooo bad! :D

My pawn shop buddy..turns to the "Mak Pro" and says...."Well, do you still want it? You can "INSPECT" it now!"......................:neener: :what:

The guy said a couple of lets say "colorful" terms as he passed us out of the store...but before he gets out the door. I ask my buddy..."Do you want any help getting the Mak togethor? He says "Na, If I need any help Ill just call our Pro!" pointing to the guy stomping out the door............

I had to call him later and was literally in tears with laughter..............

Life is truely great sometimes............Shoot well

It would have been even better if you had let your kid strip the gun. :D

My gosh I like to see morons humbled. Wish I could have been there.

The sad thing was that he (the moron) probably wasn't humbled...

He left in righteous indignation, convinced that someone had tried to pull one over on him. His estimation of his knowledge probably went up.

The only good thing is that he'll probably NEVER be back to that store -- obviously run by crooks and connivers.

My thouhgts exactly. While reading the story, I thought you were going to hand it to your son to get it ready for inspection.

Yep...good old crooked gun dealers :D

Its a good thing if he's never back again. This guy IMO, was a commandoe that didnt work at a gun store..but the kind that can go in and can tell you everything they have read about every gun in the place. Oh well. Stuff happens.

Actually, my buddy did mention we should have had Jess field strip it on the phone later...thus the tears of laughter. But, the bummer is he cant rack the slide that far on the Maks...pretty stout recoil spring for a 9 year old. :D

Shoot well

Sounds like someone i know. I have a friend that swears my mak is junk. He swears by the "Higher End" guns. Whats even funnier is when I out shoot him with my "junk". tehehe.......:D

If a guy can't field strip a Mak, he shouldn't be allowed to own a gun at all.:neener: I can't think of an auto that is more simple than the Mak.

I guess having to deal with morons like that fellow, is why so many gun dealers are in a sour mood all the time.:D

Well, actually...

If you haven't seen one stripped, and know nothing about them, stripping one isn't easy or intuitively obvious. (The "Pro" was supposed to have had several, so he had no excuses.)

Pulling the mag makes sense, but PULLING DOWN ON THE TRIGGER GUARD?! And then pulling back and LIFTING UP to get the slide off the rails?

Its easy, to be sure, but so is putting a Ruger MKII back together -- but much easier, once you've seen it done once.

Wow; souds like a bit of an arrogant guy; but didnt your friend want to make the sale? No offense, but he-he-he look at that stupid guy LEAVING with his money, just aint good buisiness. Whatever though.:)

MAK??
Hmm.. I don't know how to stip down a MAK. I would think it would be similiar to a PPK or CZ83??

Guess I don't need to own one then. Not like I would ever do so,
but I have been in places where ANY gun was nice to have.

In my Case..a Yugo Zastava TOK. One didn't see Glocks or SIGs
like you would expect in the area I was at.. CZs and MAK /Toks
ruled!Quite funny to see MAKs stuffed into Bianchi UM holsters!

Yes, the world is full of total idiots, and it seems that gunshops
are big attractions for them:)

keederdag...

You know we are both the types to say..Hey want a hand? Just ask anyone on this board who's dealt with me....Im not like this!
But when he sets the gun down and says to my friend, whom Ive known for years and runs a stand up pawn shop, that hes selling defective guns to the public.....and after bragging he's had a dozen of them cant field strip this one NOPE! Sorry dude.
I beg to differ with you on this one....We both were ready to tell this guy to ****! But he did it himself.

CZ....We can both do our 83's BLINDFOLDED!...same with a MAK!
Except you dont have to pull the TG forward....just down. Ditto.

Jerry....No, actually thats a false rumor started by me and CZF. The Cosmoline is actually lubricant and is meant to be shot with it still in the gun...:neener:

Shoot well.....................

I don't expect anyone to know how to field strip a Makarov (or any gun) by instinct but the guy's attitude made him sound like a know-it-all that claimed to have owned Maks before. Maks take down like a PP/PPK so it is really easy once you know what is going on.

Either the guy was lying about owning 12 Maks or he owned 12 Maks and didn't know how to take them down. I am not sure which is worse.

PCR; I hear ya! I put up with loads of blowhards pretty often as well, and I wasnt there. But like you said, I enjoy helping folks out, especially with gun's, so if you started off helpful and they guy was an @ss, then he had it comin I spose.:)

These things happen just about every day but it makes it interesting. :p

I don't like selling guns to Dingbats and punks so no sweat of of my boils. :D

Did you know that the DE has a 50 round mag? :uhoh: Bren

If a guy can't field strip a Mak, he shouldn't be allowed to own a gun at all. I can't think of an auto that is more simple than the Mak.

After I finished laughing at the Mak Pro, I felt compelled to go retrieve my East German Mak from the safe and make sure I could still take down and reassemble the little feller with my eyes closed. ::sigh of relief:: I get to keep the rest of my toys! :D

"If a guy can't field strip a Mak, he shouldn't be allowed to own a gun at all. "

I couldn't agree more...
