The Marlin 1894 Club

Had one, an 1894CS. Jammed, not very accurate (50 yds), lousey trigger, worse sights.
Got rid of it and instead found a new Winchester '94 same caliber. A much better gun.

Well, it looks like Buds fell through on me.

I just got an email from them today saying that due to an inventory problem, they double sold my gun, and I was the second buyer. Now, of course it is back-ordered, and they don't know when they'll get more in, because the powers that be over at Remington won't tell them.

I'm debating whether it is worth the hassle to deal with them. I was going to pick it up driving through there on the way to Georgia. So now, they've cashed my check, sold and delivered the gun to someone else too, don't know if they'll have it on the day I'll be in the neighborhood, etc.

I'm going to stew on it for a couple days. I'm pretty hot under the collar right now. I think I'll see how much they're going for locally and decide if it is worth the hassle.

All the Marlins at my Dick's appear to be Remlin's, which supposedly are uniformly undesirable. Moreover, they all have nylon ties holding the levers close so you can to little to check them out.

I guess I am out of the Marlin 1894 market :/

Just got my 1894CSS a couple of days ago, and was relieved to find that it has the old factory stamp on it and not the Remington. I'll do a proper post on it soon, but I'm very happy with it. The finish is superb, it cycles 100% reliably so far using hollow-point .357s and round-nosed .38s, and just feels "solid". I even like the sights much more than I though I would. All in all, I'm loving this rifle.

My first post...
Just got my 1894c about a month ago. I've used .357 and 38 specials with it and it performs flawlessly with excellent accuracy. I look forward to the loading and lever action getting smoother as I put more ammo through it. It's not as smooth as my Henry lever action rifles but I'm happy.

Just bought an 1894 .44 mag in excellent condition yesterday. Looking forward to getting to the range with it. I might just step out on my deck and pop a few rounds here in a bit (live in the country), just to feel it. :)

I have the Cowboy model in .45 Colt. It is a companion to my .45-70 Cowboy model. Neither are tack drivers but they serve their purpose. I shoot cast 300 grain SWC gas check bullets out of the '94. They drop like a rock past 100 yards but then they hit like a rock up close and they are cast out of a soft alloy.

I have a 1894 P model. I shoot .44 in revolvers so I thought this would fit in as I reload. I installed a Williams receiver rear sight. It makes for a great back up rifle and truck gun. I don't think they were in production long, lot of negs on the ported barell

This early 1970's model in 44MAG that has taken many deer for me. Hornady 200 grain hollow tip (.430) produces best accuracy for me.

Took my 1894 out to a bowling pin shoot today. Unconventional but "cowboy cool".

Surprisingly fast actually, was beating most of the auto pistol shooters (except the ones that were real good), clearing 5 pin tables in 7-9 seconds. That 44 mag (240 grain @ 1500) sure clears a pin off the table with authority.

Indeed it had a very high grin quotient. Even better I was shhoting against a friend with his 35 Rem 336. We definitely drew attention from the tacticool crowd. But we shot pretty well so there wasn't much smack talk once the time slip results were out. .

just picked up a marlin 1894 in 44-40 cowboy limited edtion with the 24" octagonal barrel. cant wait to get out and shoot it.

Found another good pic from a friend. I like how she caught the brass in the air, working the action, and the wisp of smoke still rising from the muzzle.

I bought mine to be a truck gun, actually i've bought several guns to be used as truck guns but they've all looked too good to get beat up.

i finally have mine. a 1894C in 357mag. Everyone loves it. My rifle is a creampuff. Shooting 357 mags is a dream and 38 specials are about like a 22LR.

I love this gun. any scoping or sight suggestions.

well here is a quick post of the cowboy i picked up last week.

I want to play!

I took this buck in 2008 w/ my Marlin 1894C using 180 gr Hornaday XTPs at a distance of ~20 yards. He went ~100 yds uphill and dropped.

This guy was taken in 2009 and was taken using the same rifle and load at a distance of about 40 yards. He mule kicked and went about 5 yards and dropped.

Luckily I didn't have to follow a blood trail, because there wasn't one for either deer.

I recently added a Millett red dot scope to it for low light hunting conditions. Hopefully I will have more photos to add to this thread in a couple of months :)
