I just picked up an 1894 in .45Colt. I didn't think they were made with a 20" round barrel but Cabelas had them on sale a few weeks ago. I can't decide if I want to put a scope on it or not.

Hopefully it will like the BB +P ammo I have for my Blackhawk.

hmmmm...I think I posted the pics from a private album. Let's try that again:

36fan what kind of sling is that? I need a sling for my 1894c. Btw I have a similar looking sling on my M1A.

Leather?
I'm not sure, I couldn't find any markings on it. I think I got it at Gander Mountain, but I'm not positive. I was just flipping through a Cabelas catalog and they have one that looks very similiar - the model is called "Military Sling"

That's the one I got from Cabelas yesterday

Just read your post about 140 xtp heads. i do not believe I knew this weight existed in xtp. How did it shoot? Bang, I now these things. What accuracy. powder, and approximate speed were you shooting. Would you buy more of these heads? My .357 Marlin might need to chew a few of them. Sorry about the time lapse since your post. Thanks for any help given. I have been using speer 146 gr, hp in .35 rem. on coyotes. The 140 gr might do as well on coyotes in the .357. Have fun and bangaway.

cast bullets 44 mag for 1894 marlin

I'm casting 215 grain lead wheel weight bullets with a lee double aluminum mold.Sizing and lube w/a sako lube sizer, loading 22.5 grains of 2400, shooting 1550 to 1600 fps. deviation 28 . new rifle new scope zero'd in. my question is has anybody used this load and were you able to put all in the bull? some of mine are in the bull and then i'll have some that are 2 or 3 inches out. Any help would be appreciated, Thank-you ,1984 marlin , 20 barrel, bushnell 3x9 scope. I have the same scope on my 1984 marlin 357 and it shoot fine with cast bullets. Mr T

I've got a question for you folks here. Just out of curiosity I was browsing the Midway site the other morning, and price checked WWB .44 mag 240gr JSP ammo. I almost spit coffee all over my computer monitor when I read the price is $41.99:eek: I just got back from Wally World here and noticed that thier still listing it as $32 and some change, however they were out of stock. So who knows the price may go up when they get more in. I then went over to Dick's Sporting goods to see what they have. They don't have any WWB but they did have Federal American Eagle 240gr JSP in the 50 count box for $39.99:eek:

I do reload for my 1894SS but even components have gone up significantly over the last few years. Add to that my reloads aren't quite as accurate as the WWB ammo from my rifle. I bought this rifle back in 2005 so I'd have a economical little thumper. Now I'm actually starting to have second thoughts about keeping this rifle around now as it is not as economical as it once was. It is becoming really hard for me to justify keeping it around any more with the current trend in ammo prices. It really pains me to think about letting it go as it is just so handy and would leave a definite void. What are you folks paying for WWB 240gr JSP in your area?

In general it seems that wally world is the cheapest for ammo. But you won't catch me paying $0.65 (or higher) per rnd of .44 mag ammo! I can load up oregan trail leadheads with Unique or power pistol powder at about $10/box of 50 (Assuming I already have the brass.)

justsaymo- the one i really got a steal on wasnt a 1894c it was the M(chambered in 22mag), needs some work but hey im excited. and here is a pic, it shows a good bit of the visiable damage(rust).

I am now the proud owner of an 1894 in 44 Magnum it should arrive within the week and the NICS is the last hurdle. When it is in my cabinet I will post pics of it and it's brother in .357 along with the revolvers that are their back ups

Going to pick up an early 94 in .38-40 this weekend. Pictures to follow. It is ugly as sin on the outside, but she is mechanically sound and has a decent bore. For 200 I'm not going to argue.

Here is one of my favorite rifles, an 1894FG in .41 mag.

The scope is normally in a saddle bag and the rifle in a scabbard. I always have it with me on backcountry rides, along with a wolf tag. "Smoke a pack a day!";)

It's here~

I picked up my 1894 today. One minor issue, the gun was exactly as described and the pics accurately depicted it. However there is a ton as in butt ton of play in the trigger, either when the hammer is locked back and ready to fire or when it is at rest. I'm thinking there is a spring or something in the trigger that is not in place correctly.
Neither the 1894C or my 336 act like this this. What do you guys think?

The trigger play sounds like the famous Marlin trigger flop. their trigger are a two piece setup, i'm assuming that the play is front and back not side to side. Just have fun with it.
