    Just curious....did the wavy-blade profile have any advantage over a regular blade profile, or was it just decorative?

    "...any advantage over a regular blade..." Longer cutting edge in the same distance. Sabres are curved for the same reason.

    There are other swords with this basic blade shape, such as the German Flammenschwert .
