The nations gun show

I might be able to get away tomorrow afternoon. Gunshow at the dulles expo center. "The nation's gun show". Anyone have any experience with this venue?
Fair prices and selection?
Can I sell my own gun there (probably in a backpack with a sign pinned to the pack, while I walk around)?
 
I was out there today. The selection was pretty good depending of course on what you are looking for. Prices I would say are just ok. Again depending on what you are looking at. I like the fact that it is one stop shopping for most of my firearm needs. I picked up some hard to find ammo and accessories and may go back out tomorrow.

The worst part about the show today was that the AC either wasn't working at all or was inadeqate for the number of people there. I was sweating like a giant skunk.
 
The A/C was not working right. That show usually has good stuff in the collector area, but also has high prices. Still, there are bargains if you know what you are looking at. I didn't buy much except $150 worth of ammunition. Not too heavy to carry, because in the kind of stuff I buy, that was 10 (yes, ten) rounds.

But I got a cup-fire, a first type teat fire, a pin fire, a lip-fire and a Martin-primed .44 S&W American commercial from an S&W box. Also a couple of .30 rimfires, since I have guns in that caliber, and a .44 Colt. Not for shooting, needless to say, but just to have cartridge examples for some of my odd-wad guns.

In my opinion one of the best around. You can sell your gun, just check it wit the helpful statey at the door and don't have it loaded. The prices are average, but there are usually deals to be had for the lucky depending on what you are looking for. I have never left empty handed, and that's why I will not be there today or tomorrow unless...hey..what are you selling???

Picked up a Saiga there saturday. I started on the left side and found one for $279 which I thought was fairly reasonable. Considering my luck, I went ahead and bought it since I wasn't sure if the other Saiga/Mosin/SKS/AK dealer had any left. Sure enough, they had some for $259.

Oh well. And yes, must've been 90f in there. Couldn't the individual dealers at least brought in a floor fan or something? Those ceiling fans were there just for decoration.

You can certainly walk around with a bright sign on the pack. I saw a guy with a rifle and one taped to the barrel.

Taurus PT145, holster, two mags. Good gun, I've just resorted to carrying my kel-tec more often, being a short little man it's harder to conceal the Taurus in all conditions of dress. I'm intending on finding myself a service pistol, either a Glock or XD.
 
I'm jealous of you guys. My Dad and I just went to look around. This is, however, the first time I've come out of the Nation's Gun Show empty handed. (Bought some ammo and a Mosin-Nagant the first time, then an AK LULA the second time. Only been there 3 times.) T____T

I bet that I know what booth he got those from too. The booth I'm thinking of also had some .600 Nitro cartridges......for $25 a piece. :eek:
 
Loaded cartridges for $25, I hope, not just brass ;) OK, so that makes the $15 ones seem like genuine bargains, eh?

The other day, I remarked to a friend that though I have tried caviar and found it rather pleasant as a once-in-a-while topping on toast (with cream cheese, esp.), I've only ever had the cheap stuff, and can't imagine that anyone gets $300 worth of enjoyment from a $300 tin of extra-fancy sturgeon roe. "For that much, I could buy a new gun -- and keep it!" I said.

Or, I guess, I could shoot 12 shots of .600 Nitro! (Or, to be fair, I could have a fairly nice personal fireworks display, and that's about how much I put into assorted shells the last time I had a chance to do so ...)

I'm guessing that the gentleman selling the .600 Nitros and other esoteric cartridges was doing so for those that collect them.

I though about betting a couple of the inert .50BMG and 20mm rounds and using them as a windchime out back of the house. :p
 
I didn't get to go. Wife had me out at a new home site this morning, but she doesn't feel good. Wore her out, so I'm stuck at home.....
