So I've had this Beeman R1 Carbine for decades, and used to shoot it lots. With Beeman .20 Cal Silver Bear HP pellets, it would shoot ragged holes at 20 yards through just about anything.

Then it sat in the freezer for quite a spell.

FF - my boys are getting big enough to shoot it, so I pull it out, only to find a tired main spring and leaky seals.

So I order new seals and a spring, and have my local Airgun Ferrari mechanic overhaul it for a nominal fee.

Now it shoots better than new, except I can't get the Beeman pellets anymore, so I get a load of Benjamin Cyl pellets - that don't shoot all that great - like 1-1/2" at 20 yards.

And the OEM Partridge rear sight doesn't work so well for me anymore, so I got a WILLIAMS FP-AG Aperture sight - which works great and shrank the groups to ~ 1". (have Tech-Sights or OEM Aperture sights on all my iron sighted rifles)

Then I find out about JSB Diabolo Exact .20 Cal pellets, and order a pile of them.

...Groups shrunk back to a ragged hole.

    Like Ponce de León's Fountain.

My Blue Streak likes the Predator Polymag, and the heavy SamYang pellet. .20 is a great shooting caliber.

The cylindrical pellets don't shoot very well in my two .20 rifles.

My .20 R1 likes the H&N Field Target Trophy pellets.

The JSB Exact pellets have a great reputation. I just don't have any notes on how they shoot in my R1.

My Sheridan loves the silverbear .20 cal hp pellet as well. The H&N FTT 11.42 gr pellet works pretty well.
I ordered some JSB Diabolo Exact .20 Cal pellets off of ebay they came today, the packaging was awesome, no damage unlike amazon.
I look forward to trying the Diabolo.

I weighed a random sampling of ten of each these pellets,
    silverbear 9.7gr .20 cal hp pellet, .05 gr +or- .1 variance
    H&N FTT 11.42 gr pellet, .1 gr + or - .2 gr variance
JSB Diabolo Exact .20 Cal pellets 13.73 gr .15 gr + or- .3 gr variance
I have not found a better shooting pellet for my .20 cal blue streak than the Beeman silver bear hp.

    Sure, my R1 one-holes'em.

But where do you find them?

I've had silver bear for years, when I tried to find more they were discontinued.

From what I've been reading, it appears that .20 pellets have been written off as "obsolete"; there don't seem to be many from which to choose. That's certainly silly and shortsighted; they were a favorite of Bob Beeman back in the day. Currently, I'm shooting down the last of my .20 Crosman Premiers from 20 years ago through a Crow Mag and a Whisky. Looks like I'll have to order up some of those JSBs to keep the beasts fed.

The pickings are slim but you can still find some decent .20 pellets.

H&N makes the Field Target Trophy and the Barracuda.
JSB makes the Exact and the Predator Polymag.
The Benjamin/Crosman cylindricals are available and they have been modified a little bit from their original straight-sided design to make their shape somewhat more conventional.

I wonder if it might be possible to make a sizing/swaging die to size .22 pellets down to .20?

Just picked up some Barracudas. The rifle likes them. Thank you!
