Just read a report by therevolverguy.com on the New Colt King Cobra.
Anybody have one of these yet?
The report was very recent. Just curious if the Colt tradition of excellent firearms still holds in this quality control deficient era of manufacturing.
The report was very favorable. It popped up on Google adds when I went to search for something else.
I don't know how long they have been out.

I've said it a few times, I'd like to have one with a few exceptions:

-They'll need to add a rear adjustable sight.
-I'd need to handle one to check out the fit/finish.

Um maybe I should try one , but I do hope the fit/finish is as good as their older revolvers.
People have mentioned it, but personally I'd prefer them not to bring back the Python, only that it seems it's the gun they let go, so let it be a product of it's time. If they released a New Model Python, with slightly longer cylinder, different hammer design and inner parts that are FAR easily to work on even if you're a amatuer, I'd be in full support of that.

The new Cobra is a nice gun in a lot of ways... but the overall finish reminded me a lot of a Charter Arms.

I guess they realized that the same people paying for 10 dollar steaks don't notice the difference in finish of a 50 cent hotdog. So they decided, what's the point in making a steak out of what makes it 10 dollars if people will pay 10 dollars for a steak that's made out of hot dog meat?
Same logic applies to gun. People just don't notice the difference between the royal blue finish vs the lower grade finish. They pay $1000 dollars for a Colt anyway.
But for me personally, if I'm going to pay $1000 on a gun, it better have that royal finish, because I know that is what makes a gun worth $1000. If I wanted a dulled finish, I'd buy a Charter Arms.

Colt just doesn't do the polish and blue like they used to, that's for sure. The all-bead blast just looks... bad to me. Some things look good bead blasted, but it's funny, because the new Cobra looks a lot like the Armscor or Charter copies of the OLD Cobra... which were things in the first place basically because Colt hasn't made a D-frame in forever. Now that Colt is doing so again... super ironic that their version looks like a knockoff.

Yea, for basically $900 MSRP revolver, I expect better than a bead blast finish... I expect a S&W and Kimber quality fit and finish and better sights... Seems like the MSRP is at the very least $150 or so too high...

I handled one at a gun shop. Action is light and smooth like the Cobra (I own one of those), finish is much nicer. It is a polished (but not high polish) finish similar to what S&W does. Price is a bit high, but like the Cobra, will drop if you wait a bit.

I love the Cobra, I just may plunk down some coin on a King Cobra... after I get a .327 Lipseys 5” GP 100. That’s next for me on the hit parade...

Stay safe!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I must confess I am a die-hard Ruger revolver fan be it SA or DA/SA configuration but the older colts are definitely works of art. Just a bit out of my price range for the work I put a revolver through.
Was considering adding one of these to the battery but have changed my mind I believe from the comments here. Think I'll just stick to what I know.
Happy shooting!
