Window shopping at the local gun store today and looked at a new 870 express. Is it just me or do the new ones have a smoother finish on the reciever and barrel than the previous years? I have an 870 Express Synthetic I purchased 3 years ago and the fishing on it seems alot rougher than the new ones. Its still far from a polished blue like the Wingmaster but maybe a finer texture. I cant really tell because I havn't had them side by side but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Was it a super magnum by chance?

They appear to be a better finish, at least online.

This is what I bought a few years ago.

Just this past Saturday I was in Wal-Mart looking for some ammo and asked the guy at the counter to let me look at an Express.
The first thing I noticed was the surface finish seemed a lot richer than past 870 Express models I have seen in the past.
In fact some I have seen in the past had such a poor finish you could almost see them rusting before your very eyes.
They were asking $257.00 for this wood stocked 28" barrel version.
Certainly not a bad price.

Thats exactly the problem with my current Express. Rusts very easily. Think I might sell it and pick up a newer one, can't argue with the price thats for sure.
