Winter weather always leaves me in a blue mood, so I thought I would start a thread about The One that got away. And I'm not thinking about the ex-wife (thank God and U-Haul, she's gone), but rather that one really, really special, classy, rare, and/or beautiful pistol that was, sadly, mine for just a while. Mine was a Colt CCO Gunsite model, so sleek, so fine, so gorgeous, but just not The One for me at the time, though now I do wish I had her back...but she is, alas, gone forever (her next owner being so much smarter than me, he will never sell her). So, there's my broken-hearted song of love...what's yours? Tell us all about The One that you let slip away...this one, I have to add, I bought NIB, with never a round thru her, for $850 just last summer.:banghead:

I let a winchester model 94 go back in 1986. First gun I ever bought. Biggest gun related mistake I ever made.

Never belonged to me, but I had a chance to pick up a .38 revolver used, in good condition, for about $350. It was on the other side of the state, and it didn't seem to be worth the effort. I ended buying a Ruger SR9 instead, and I love it, but knowing what I do now.....

I can't believe I passed up a Colt Python for $350....

I have bought many guns throiugh the years and have only ever sold one. A (true) Colt 1911 bought new in 1980 and fired less than one box through. Bought it for $405...sold it for $400 in about 1991. I still regret it.

I miss my Colt Combat Commander. I bought it LNIB for $375 in 2008, shot it very little. In late 2010, I blew the motor (again) in my Daytona Shelby Z, and with a 40 mile each way commute, my 440-powered Aspen coupe was killing me in gas. So, I sold the colt for $700 and bought a little econobox that I fixed up and later traded for a Jeep Comanche that I still have.
