In the beginning, there were only two companies loading the .44 magnum. Remington and Winchester...and for a short time it was just Remington. Both came with a hard swaged lead (3% antimony) gas-checked SWC. Twins from another mother, side by side you couldn't see the difference...and none across a chronograph.
Elmer actually wanted a 250 grain bullet at lower velocity...but he got what he got.
