I realize Bond is a fictional character, but it's still fun to speculate on what Q Branch would issue. Based on Bond's need for concealment, reliability, power and panache, I think the Kimber Solo DC satisfies all the requirements. I'm a PPK fan, and I own one, but the Solo is superior. Thoughts?

Either way it's definitely about time he upgraded to full power from the 9mm short! The Kimber definitely looks sleek enough for Bond.

The Yankee Marshal; ASP 9x19mm, Paris Theodore

Id watch the The Yankee Marshal videos of the Solo T&Es.
He's not a big fan of the compact Kimber.

Bond should tote a more modern version of the classic ASP 9x19mm by noted weapons expert/intel industry insider; Paris Theodore. Theodore re-worked a S&W model 39 pistol into the slick, concealable ASP.
Combat Handguns magazine did a in depth review of the ASP in the mid-1980s(when author John Gardner had Bond use it) then again about 3 years ago. The article stated the US head of security in Viet-Nam at the Embassy in 1975 packed a ASP 9mm as his sidearm, .

A newer pistol like a M&P Shield or maybe a XDs or Glock 36 could be revised into a compact pistol with ASP features.
In a newer 007 novel, Bond was issued a Walther PPS .40S&W.

Bond's PPK was not a 9mm Short. In Dr. No, Q replaced his .25cal Beretta 418 with a PPK in 7.65, and "for long range work" :scrutiny: , a S&W Centennial Airweight (.38 Special). He carried a long barreled .45cal Colt in his Bentley. Later, the PPK was replaced with a FN1903, then an ASP 9mm and finally a Walther P99.

Carte Blanche(2011).....

In the authorized 007 novel; Carte Blanche, Bond is given a Walther PPS .40S&W. He works for SOE which is a top secret sub-division of MI6.
They conduct the direct action & intel missions not handled by special ops(SAS or SBS) & MI5/MI6.
This version of Bond is a OEF(Afganistan combat) veteran & a business industry executive prior to starting a career as a spy/spec ops expert.

Updating Bond while keeping with tradition, and giving him an appropriate and effective weapon, I see the Walther PPS in 9mm the best choice.

I considered the P99 to be a marginal choice and would bet that had the P99 Compact been available at the time it would have been the one instead.

With all the reliability issues the Kimber Solo has been facing, it would probably almost kill James Bond. Almost like his Beretta did in 1962 at the beginning of Dr. No.

In any case, the current bond gun is the Walther P99 in 9mm. The PPQ M1 would be the next logical and natural step.

I believe that a modern James Bond should carry a couple of Economics handbooks and a lot of paper to write economic sanctions on. I've given up this idea that international diplomacy can be conducted with firearms. Just threaten to ruin the economy of the next bad guy you encounter and see how quickly he folds his tents and steals away into the night.

...and let me tell you about the Easter Bunny.

Even though the CCP looks like a Tupperware HiPoint, it should be a good one.
The blowback operation should increase accuracy.

Some people need to at the very least watch Goldeneye again.

"7.65mm. Only three people I know use such a gun. I believe I've killed two of them."

Interestingly enough, the PPK used in Skyfall was a .380. As the "new Q" calls it "9mm short" which is another name for .380.

I don't think Q Branch would put up with Kimber's service department.

For Bond I would probably go with another Walther. I believe a CCP would do quite nicely.

Bond would want a small, reliable gun. I see him with a Seecamp or perhaps a Rohrbaugh. It has to disappear under his tux afterall.

I just go by the books. I think the movies are about some other guy with the same name. :uhoh:
There are books?!

Imho, the PPK is the only gun Walther makes that looks classy enough for Bond.

The PPK is fine for his needs, but if there had to be a change, and I were the one who made it, his new gun would be a SIG P938.

This IS a fun topic. I do wonder when the producers of the franchise will upgrade him to a true 9mm.

I still think our guy needs a G26.

Our guy needs both fire power and accuracy for his more "modern" engagements. The G26 has great accuracy for an arm its size.It is smaller and lighter than the P99, while capable of carrying 12 rounds of 9mm goodness in the standard mag with the Pearce +2 extension. Modern 9mm rounds are very capable.

I think the Bond series is pretty euro-centric. So, a 9mm Glock makes sense, in this context.

Finally, when our guy needs to run and gun through the streets or back alleys of wherever in Europe or anyplace else in the world, he is more likely to be pushing past bad guys or corrupt security forces, that are using G19's or G17's (in my imaginings, of course)...SO....he can just pick up their spare mags and keep blasting. I like that!

And...absolutely agree with the poster above who suggested a SIG 229 be kept in his car.

Anyway....too much fun.

Thanks
J
