Penguin,
I used to have a membership at The Place to Shoot. The people who staff it are OK. The place itself is filthy. The ventilation is far from the greatest. They have a sign at the door, "No Loaded Firearms". In Oregon, the sign is meaningless, but it still irks me.
They have a sign on the way into the firing line that says no Wolf ammo. Yet the RO was helping someone who was shooting Wolf. The place filled with smoke very quickly.
I took my oldest grand daughter shooting there for her first time. She had a good time.
I let my membership expire a couple of years ago. Now I shoot mostly at the Public Safety Training Center. It's by Clackamas Town Center. Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable staff. The place is clean, the firing line is nicer and very well ventilated. They have full auto weapons that you can rent.
They do have the no loaded gun except for law enforcement sign.
The only bad thing is that you have to use their ammo. They don't gouge on it though, so it isn't too bad.
Another place that is in Southeast Portland is the Johnson Creek Gun Club.
They are pretty reasonable, you let yourself in with a key card. I have never shot there. I have had people tell me that the ventilation isn't great.
Then there is the Estacada Rod and Gun Club. Out by Estacada.
And Douglass Ridge Rifle Club. They have pistol, rifle and trap ranges.
There are some more, but I am tired of typing, and these are the only ones I have personal or second hand knowledge of.
I hope this helped.
I hope they open English Pit again. I used to go there quite often.
