The High Road's Future?

With "The Firing Line" going back online...what will be in the cards for The High Road???

Russ

I just got that mail myself. There's definitely room for more firearms forums, but not necessarily with as close to identical crowds as we have/had betwen THR and TFL.

Guess only time will tell.

It's owned by SWAT magazine, right? They must be the ones who are opening it...right?

I suppose two firearms forums aren't bad, but I can already see "THR vs. TFL" threads looming.

Interesting... I guess we will have to wait to see what the new/old board might bring.

I like the colors..

Here's the e-mail

To: TFL Member ******* -

We're proud to announce that, after a 17 month hiatus, we will be opening TheFiringLine.com Forums once again. This decision was reached in February of this year and we've been preparing for it ever since. TFL is now running on the fastest dedicated server we've ever had. The Forum Software has been updated to the latest version and includes a number of new features.

Best of all, we've reached out to some old friends to Staff the Forums. The magic of the mix hasn't changed a bit..nor has the culture of the site. For my part, I'm stepping down from day to day operations oversight and have placed those responsibilities in the hands of our outstanding Staff, now headed up by our good friend Marko Kloos.

The Forums remain closed to new posts until the relaunch. Please see the headline at the top of the Forum Summary Page for details. http://thefiringline.com/forums

This email is going out to nearly 18,000 Members who elected to allow emails from the site. We value your well wishes and input greatly. However, as you can imagine, we expect to be inundated and ask that you respond only out of necessity.

Your User Name (t the top of this email) and Password remain the same as before. If you have forgotten your password, you may reset it at http://thefiringline.com/forums/login.php?do=lostpw Just follow the instructions in the email from the system.

We're all very excited to be returning to TFL and look forward to seeing you there.

Best Regards-
Rich Lucibella

The more forums the merrier.

I spend time on over a half-dozen sites as it is. TFL was THE forum that really got me interested in these sites, so you bet I'll be back there.

I find myself checking the database over there from time to time anyway for different things.

I hope that we all spend equal time between TFL and THR, considering the fact that THR saved us all when Rich closed TFL.

I'm giddy with excitement, and a little nervous at the same time.

Oh yeah, I got an e-mail.:neener:

I just got the e-mail, myself; said it's going to 18,000 members. That's quite a list. I just don't know; it was great... but that was then, and this is now. I think Oleg and company have done a wonderful job here; it's my "one stop shop." There's always room for Jello, as they say... but this is home now. Guess we'll have to see...

I was never a member of TFL, but from experience with other forums when they come back from the dead they aren't the same. Yeah, I'll probably register, but the "original" TFL members have all went their seperate ways to THR and GT, and all the others.

Just got the email here, too. Looks like it will mean dividing time between the two sites, or maybe just spending another half hour online to take in both each day.

Hard to see it as bad news for anyone involved.

Never joined TFL, just browsed for info. Joined THR, because I like the feel, the mods, and Oleg's photography.

I'll browse it every once in a while, probably, but this place feels more like home. I know they're roughly the same, but they aren't the complete same. Staying here.

THR will still be here.

TFL and THR will be sister sites, and some of THR's moderators will be moderating on both forums.

We won't be competition for each other, but complementary (and different) forums working for the same purpose: that of advancing responsible firearms ownership.

I thought about what would happen if TFL reopened, and I figured I'd stick around here, given the environment here that WAS naturally tuned for openminded debate, respect, and a love for RKBA. Recently, we've been fighting ourselves more than the antis.

Not so sure now. We'll see how the environment of THR changes. Hopefully the squabbling and bickering will stop, or many THR members may decide that change is in order.

I guess it'll be another 9MM vs .45, pistol vs. revolver, TFL vs THR set of discussions. I like 'em all and think it'll be sweet getting TFL back into the fray.
Be visting both I'm sure.

It will be nice to ask a question whe over there doing research. Room for everybody. Becides Rich and company might have information on things that will be harder to find other places. Look forward to the reopening. The best is somebldy might stumble over one site and not the other. Still very good information and very respectable conversation even if I am here.

Weird, shame i have changed email addys and have NO IDEA what my old password was. But, it will be interesting to see how it works out. I don't know how it's going to be without Richard running things though.
