The Return of TFL - The High Road's Future?

Wow, I actually remembered my old password:what:!
It also offers another chance to those who got banned from THR.
People got that out of hand here? Would I be prying if I asked what for? Not asking for names, of course.
For everyone who has a different email, contact a TFL mod with your username and your current email address and we can change it for you. That will allow you to change your password.
How much info needs to be handed over? I mean, a troll could try to hijack the good (user)name of a former poster.

TFL and THR are complementary sights. Remember, you can never have too much of a good thing when it comes to quality sites such as these two!

My Tinfoil Hat is tingling!

Hmmmm....there's trouble at THR...all sorts of new members...site shut down for days, because of "the server"...flame wars erupting....talk of genocide...members banned and threads closed....

And now, conveniently enough, The Firing Line is back in business!

Hmmmmmm. I smell a conspiracy.

:D or :uhoh: :scrutiny: -you decide.

I'm in the camp that says there is only a finite amount of time in a day. Heck, I haven't had enough time to spend as much time over here as I'd like lately and now TFL is reopening.

Right now I'm going to play it by ear a bit. Lets see how many people go back. I'll probably mostly go back while waiting. If most people I want to see around are there I'll probably switch (and occasionally come back here). It was my first main firearms forum to frequent, I got a lot out of the place, and if it is returning I really should give it a chance. Plus, with the recent unpleasantness around here this place isn't as fun as it used to be.

Now if that happens I won't completely leave here. However, time is limited, and I seem to have less time to spend on forums than I'd like anymore anyway. Other than my own, I rarely post on other gun forums already. I probably have less than 100 posts at gun-talk, guntalk and FFF combined. With this development, THR will probably become like those boards for me.

Like I said at first though, it really does depend upon who, and how many, return to TFL. If it is a ghost town, I'll stay here. I do like most of the people here, some quite a bit, and despite the recent nastiness, it is usually a decent place.

Yeah, I'll probably register, but the "original" TFL members have all went their seperate ways to THR and GT, and all the others.

Not me. I'll still be here, but I'll be back at TFL again too. :)

This is quite a surprise to me. I did not think that TFL would ever open back up again.

Travis -
one more to add to your list of 16:
Gun Talk

have tape, good luck to all and to all a good night...

THR will still be here.

TFL and THR will be sister sites, and some of THR's moderators will be moderating on both forums.

We won't be competition for each other, but complementary (and different) forums working for the same purpose: that of advancing responsible firearms ownership.

I kill time in the morning surfing the net. I used to belong to some Corvette Forums but when I changed puters & emails for some reason they won't accept the changes. I find it's no big deal because they became boring!:cuss: THR no problem.:) I just checked and I'm still registered at TFL as if I never left. With DSL I finish up my surfing too fast so THR is a welcome addition.

The only other gun board I frequent is the S&W Forum as I collect Smiths. The revolver forum here is pretty good but not enough Smiths.:(

I like the General & L&P forums on both THR & TFL so it'll make up for both the time & content. I just hope the forums are not carbon copies of each other.

Just what I needed....something else that I just GOTTA check out on a regular basis on the computer. My butt is gonna get so huge......

Time too see if I have any idea what my password was/is. 'Later.

I never happened upon TFL before they closed. I have greatly enjoyed my time here on THR in the past year. I've done some scanning of the archives over at TFL and was quite impressed. I'll definitely register but I doubt I'll spend as much time over there as here.

Oh, and Skunkabilly - there are ways around problems like that. Using something like VNC or Windows XP Remote Control (modified to use a high nonstandard port for a bit of obscurity from casual portscans) is a very handy thing. THR is not blocked where I work, but if I have remoted in to my home machine and gone out from there for other purposes (not that! put your dirty mind away). PM me if you'd like assistance with that.

Didn't get the e-mail cause I've changed internet services since the demise of TFL. I'll probably re-register. I stumbled onto TFL years ago and enjoyed my time there. When there's time; there's time for both THR and TFL.

So I get this email, and all I can see is that it's from "webmaster@" and the subject is <no subject>...

I wonder how many people trashed it like my wife did with her copy?

Because of the address it came to, I decided it was worth a second of my time to positively identify it as spam before trashing it.

Lo! The return of TFL is announced.

To those who work at both places, my sincere thanks for all that you have brought to us. May I humbly suggest that you try to look a little less like spam when you send out emails.

Looking forward to the return of TFL. I have all this extra time on my hands, you see.... ;)

time will tell, which forum i darken the doorway

one thing fer sure

i'm not going to cross file articles
i don't need more complications these daze

Yep, the e-mail was in the old "inbox" this morning and the next move I made was come here for "the scoop".

I was one of the many who felt extremely saddened when TFL announced intent to go dormant. And wound up mostly here as a "substitute home" after Oleg and Co. (thank you, again) cranked up TRH.

As others have said, there are only "x hours" a week that an ordinary person can (or needs to) spend on their butt in front of a computer screen.
I'll likely visit both sites when practical - and make the "Legal & Political" forums a last stop, if at all. ;) Which reminds me of an old adage seen often at TFL, but not here for a while, if at all: "The conflict that does not exist does not need resolution."

For a change, this week is starting out quite well. :D

Being a TFL alumnus, I WILL go back... but I sure ain't leaving here... I DO feel that I owe Rich something, but I owe Oleg the same aliegence, since he was good enough to give me a good home, when TFL closed...

kinda important to share the loyalty here, I think...

Thumper,

Employers everywhere are going to wonder about sheetcakes with "TFL Opens" in the breakroom Tuesday. :D

Little bakeries all over are making TFL related cakes and cupcakes...calling each other "Yeah well you figure out what a "TFL" is let us know as well". :p

Should we wear our THR shirts on opening day?

I say heck yeah... :D

I am thrilled to hear that TFL will be opening back up tomorrow and I don't see the need to "choose" between TFL and THR... They are both great places and I will be at both... Heck I may even post at TFL now that I'm a bit more comfy...
