Last Saturday I was at a Garts Sports in Nampa,ID picking up a Browning Buckmark and there was a brand new 586 with a six inch barrel. The dealer didn't know if Smith was making them again, but it didn't say anything about it being a special production item for Garts. I mention this because Garts does have special models that Smith makes for them- like alot of the bigger retailers. Well two days later I wa at their superstore in Boise and saw a brand new 586 with a 4" barrel. Once again nothing about it being a special run. I handled both of them so I know I wasn't dreaming. I've been to the S&W website and there is nothing about the 586 being resumed. What's up?

That would be great news if S&W were again making the 586. I could never really warm up to the idea of stainless; it just isn't as pretty as deep blue.

Seven. I just called both Garts and they still have them. Nobody knows if it's a one time deal or if Smith is testing the waters. Seeing if the public demand really is equal to folks willingness to buy blued revolvers again.

It had 7 holes? I thought 586s were only made with 6 holes.

Maybe the are selling 686s blued and calling them 586s

I saw one of these on gunbroker a couple weeks ago. It had a six inch barrel, and the key lock on it.

It's nice to see that s&w is willing to try to bring back blue guns, but I would like to see them get rid of the locks.

So far there is 6in and 4in, does anyone know if they have the 3in barrel also? Cause if they do, I could over look the lock. :D

We;ve had them here in California since last summer. Of course, we're a bigger market so I guess we got em first ;)
