The rifle I was missing

Moderately priced or not, that is a beauty! I don't care so much about price, if it is what I want and I got that much, I buy it. Simple, I don't ask if anyone thinks I got a good deal, if I am happy with it, cool. Besides, once it is paid for, it doesn't matter how much it cost! Nice old Winnie!

Anybody know what year they started putting the shorter forend on these rifles? The ones where the wood doesn't extend as far past the barrel band? My 1942 has a slightly longer forend.

Nice rifle! You'll definitely enjoy it!!

Nice rifle. Of course I am biased. I have a 1955 that looks same but not the hooded front site. Shot my first deer with it, passed down from my dad.

I had not shot it since the mid 1980's until a range trip a few weeks ago... funny I thought it kicked a lot back in the day. Not any more. Although I am 40lbs heavier, 3 inches taller and 30 years older now....

Witchhunter's words are eloquent; beautiful piece at any cost. I never buy a gun based solely on price, market value, THR approval, etc. - if I want a gun it is usually not outrageously priced and I buy it. In the money world, I have lost money on some guns and have made money on some guns (my money making ventures were usually just plain luck - I bought what I liked and it happened to appreciate). You have a great rifle, enjoy it for the beautiful thing it is and the hell with the cost - good shooting.

Anytime you can combine Pre-64 Winchester and moderately priced, it is a good thing.

Nice Rifle.

Just my .02,

The source I reviewed reported that the shorter forend (7-5/16 inch) was initiated on "late model" Model 94s (post serial nos. 1,790,000).

Excellent rifle/purchased at any price, a good friend of mine has got the same rifle that he bought brand new back in 1957 at Montgomery Wards, when he was a kid. Still looks like new to this day.

That is a beautiful rifle! I have a '54 and it is one of my favorite leverguns!
