Very nice those six.

Couple of pics of fitting a trigger shoe for target shooting.
Had to install it upside down so when tightening the grub screws it would pull the shoe away from the trigger plunger
as it was jamming on the half cock and letting you fire from the half cock.
Just to let you know why i fitted the shoe is here in Australia you have to shoot so many matches/comps at a police approved range....
just to keep your handguns, so and small change can help in comps 25m and 50m
so fitting the shoe does make for a better fit and feel on the trigger.

Stripped nipple on an ROA

I got another Ruger Old Army on Saturday. It shoots great but has one nipple that is stripped on the hex "nut" base. I have more nipples so removing this one by any means is fine.

I don't have a reverse threaded tap or an Easy-out. I soaked it overnight in Liquid Wrench but can't get it to bust loose. It isn't rusted in, just real tight. I got the other 5 out with some effort.

Any hints????? :confused:
 
Find a nail that will fit in the nipple's hole and epoxy it in there. Grab the nail with pliers the next day and unscrew the silly thing.

Make sure all your lube stuff is cleaned out so the glue will set up properly.

I thought of maybe another way...

Maybe you can file a slot vertically down through the nipple and unscrew it with a screwdriver? Then if that doesn't work, the irregularity of the slot will give the epoxy a place to get a grab on the nipple.

I took it to a machine shop .. he couldn't get it out. So I bought a small sized easy-out and got it out after about 15 minutes. The tool cost $2.21 + tax.

The one I just got is the blued one in the middle.

Grip frame

Need some help finding a grip frame for a ROA. Need a Old Model Super Blackhawk grip frame to fit on a blued Old Army. Want to start collecting a few parts for a Clements .50 cal project. Would love to have an Old Model Super Blackhawk grip frame in stainless but I'm not sure they came stainless. Any info or help out there in BP land?
 
I've been reading the recent posts about Classic Ballistix and Kirst Konverters. I was seriously considering the purchase of a new cap and ball cylinder and a conversion cylinder. But, since I've had time to read some of the recent posts, I'm trying to determine if they are still legit businesses or not. Has anyone had recent experience with them? I am going to try to contact them after the weekend. I'd love to have a .45 colt cylinder but if they are out of business or if they are trying to con customers I don't want any part of them. Can anyone give some direction/advice?
 
Cowboyy - go with Kirst. I have one myself (and don't have any financial interest, relative who works there, or have knowingly fed/petted any dogs owned by anybody who works for or has a financial interest in Kirst).
 
Here is my ROA
I found her in a pawnshop years ago with the left handed holster, box, paperwork and nipple wrench for $120.00, she dates to 1982.

You got a great deal, ROA stainless have always been above $150 used, even back in the 80's when I got my 1st. The Ruger logo holster, even a leftie is worth what you paid for the set.:what::D
 
CrisisBill - At $120 for all that stuff you made off like a bandit! Those Ruger Holsters sometime goes for $60. BTW, they were made by Bianchi for Ruger. I bought a used one sometime this year for $25. They are right hand, twist draw holsters.

Been shooting smokeless in Cowboy Action Shooting and decided to find a partner for my 1970s ROA. Got some 45 colt conversion cylinders, quick change kits, belt and holsters and BP lubed bullets. Out of money now but ready for some fun.
