The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

Graf's black powder is reputed to be repackaged Schuetzen. I bought 5 lbs. of it last year. I never did side by side tests with it vs. Goex but it works just as good in my opinion.

Finished my Bisley gripped R&D conversion.
This one was made as a cartridge firing only revolver.
Cut and crowned the barrel to 5 5/8 inches, rotated the Ruger warning lettering to the bottom.
Alpha Precision sight.
Shoots fantastic.

The Bisley grip is supposed to be the easiest one to control recoil in big bore handguns.
I don't classify the ROA as a big bore because the recoil is mild due to the loading safety warnings and the weight of the gun. But it sure looks nice.

Better late than dead....I think this gets me up to date. :neener:

Is there a definitive listing somewhere of all the different variations or models made in the ROA? I'd like to pick one up but I love doing my research before making any purchase.

Nope. Thats the factory shine. I think all the fixed sight SS guns came polished. Here it is with walnut grips next to its freshly acquired brother. Picked up some rosewood grips from altamont for both of them that should be here soon and a Buscadero rig for the pair that I'm not holding my breath on..

Bought both of them NIB from the same guy. I'm betting he's a member here as he still had 14 more or something like that. He almsot had me talked into shortening them but to me it seems these fixed sight guns are one of the few modern collectible black powder guns so they will probably stay as is.

"goldpelican",

Try: http://www.rugercollectorsassociation.com/forums/

Click on the "RCA Forums", then look at the first thread after "Introduce Yourself", which is titled, "Questions about the RCA or a Ruger you own".

This forum available to non-RCA members to ask questions about the Ruger Collectors Association or a Ruger Firearm that you own.

Also try: http://www.rugerforum.com

Hope this helps,

Buck

Please forgive me I was looking for another blued one ran across this SS one for $450 could not pass that up. If I ever need to run some filler I will be sure to use some grits!:)

The Boy and I are watching a disc with four hours about the development of the gun.

They have on at least two occasions shown a ROA "as issued" while speaking about cartridge guns. Oddly it seemed once they showed an ROA when talking about percussion that had a conversion cylinder in place.

That Battle flag above reminds me that during the Civil War episode my fairly well historically educated Boy asked me what flag the Second National was.

Folks seldom recognize anything but the battle flag. Many folks vehicles (I was going to say cars, but mostly trucks) around here sport a small bumper sticker of the Bonnie blue flag that bears a single star.

ROA Stainless with broken cylinder pin seems to be gone from the pawn shop I saw it at almost a year ago. As it had already been there several months I had hoped it would stay around long enough for me to "steal" it at a good price.

Yugorpk,

Those new grips add "shine" to already "Shiney" revolvers.

I never had an RPK but did own a Yugo....seemed like a good idea at the time.

Could not resist

Ran across these two beauties and had to pick them up. Make a nice addition to my pair of 7.5's with adjustable sights. My Howell conversion cylinders and Belt Mtn quick change kits fit perfectly. Ran about 60 45 Colt black powder rounds through them yesterday.

Cast up a couple of hundred .456/220 Lee conical bullets for the Old Army's today. If I had known it was this easy I would have started casting years ago.

Just got her!

Not the best photo, but she's home. I would love to be in the club.

Problems seating Lee 256/220 bullets

I just returned from camp. I am proud to say, with the exception of my 10/22 my ROA was shot more than anyother gun I brought (out of 4 rifles and four) pistols). The pistol was quite a hit and there are two more people in the world that know how to load, shoot and clean a C&B revolver I brought both hornandy RB and a bunch of lee 456/220's. While the RN bullets fit the chamber well.I had some problems keeping them parallel to the chamber while seating.Only one chamber seemed accept the base of the bullet easily. We eventually went back to RBs,except for an occasional "let me give it one more try"All are pure lead and cast from the same batch.I know some folks use loading blocks/tool,but the last thing I need is another loading/reloading tool. On the other hand, the RBs were deadly accurate at 30 yards.Antone else have problems seating cast lee 220's
