They are both in the $750 range

Kimber has a great reputation. I wonder if anyone has any information on the Kimber Solo dependability?

The Rohrbaugh is beautiful but $1250 is too pricy.

The only thing that keeps me from screaming "Go for the 9mm!" is the fact that the Solo is pretty new, and I don't know much about it.

I'm a Sig fan, but not a fan of the P232.

I fell in love with the Kimber Solo Carry the day it came out.
But.........
It doesn't really compare to the Sig 232.
The Sig is MUCH larger, and .380.
The Solo seems to be in the size range of the Kahr PM-9 (within a couple tenths)
although the Solo is S/A only, while the 232 is about an inch larger in both dimensions.
If your thinking pocket carry, forget the 232.

Folks who have shot the Solo seem to be having lots of feeding issues.
My "love" is waning to "wait and see".
Kimber's reputation for poor customer service, "It's your fault." won't make this any easier.

So, if in the next year, they sort it out, and it's reliable, the Solo will be a winner.
They've captured the "look" perfectly.

Rohrbaugh R-9? That's gotta be a handful to shoot.

Follow up: I went to the Kimber site and was shocked to see this announcement.
"The Solo is currently not in stock. If you would like to Pre-Order the solo, contact xxxxx."
Not in stock? Pre-order? Sounds like they have pulled back a bit on their production.

Wait wait wait...

Why are you even asking about the P232 when you're on two different threads trashing it?

"The p232 is an unreliable and dangerous pistol to have as a backup. I am hoping Sig will recall the P232."

Unless I'm mistaking you for a different skunk.

I got a Kimber Ultra, and it runs like a sewing machine. I had one faulty magazine, but the basic gun was first class. I am amazzed at the price of $700 for the Kimber Solo, it's a locked breech 9mm. They say after a few clips the gun is broken in.

My real interest is dependability. You buy a gun that's problems and suddenly it gets expensive. I bought a S&W 642 and all I spent was $20 between ammo and a range visit.

I like the looks of the Solo. It reminds me of the old Colt 1903's. If they'd lose the thumb safety, it would be nicer yet.

My only real concern with it is, its a Kimber. The couple of Kimbers I have owned in the past were trouble, especially my Ultra Carry, which I dont think ever made it through a mag, without a stoppage.

Once they get it through the "new" stages, time will tell. Lets see how things are going this time next year.

Or, they can't keep up with demand. I'll be interested to see what happens, the reviews I've read have been positive, I'm on the list for a stainless. Time will tell. As far as looks go, the P232 doesn't do anything for me.

Assuming that you get a 232 that works, it's still way too big for what it is. The Kimber is a Kimber. I wouldn't get either. Get a Kahr.

I own all the above and each are keepers....I have fallen in love with the Solo and plan on carrying it for a while....lay the R9 up for a rest. Only good results from the Solo with 300 rds down range.

Coming from someone who owns all of those...I would choose the Kimber.

BTW, the R9 recoil is not that bad. You want to talk sever recoil...try a Seecamp 380:D
