I'm sure many of us had run across this fable at one time or another...

A Man came into a forest, and made a petition to the Trees to provide him a handle for his axe. The Trees consented to his request, and gave him a young ash-tree. No sooner had the man fitted from it a new handle to his axe, than he began to use it, and quickly felled with his strokes the noblest giants of the forest. An old oak, lamenting when too late the destruction of his companions, said to a neighboring cedar, “The first step has lost us all. If we had not given up the rights of the ash, we might yet have retained our own privileges, and have stood for ages.”

Beware of small concessions.

Nope. I don't drink. ;)

Got it in one of the e-newsletters I subscribe to. Just a reminder that gun-control is a slippery slope - which probably (hopefully) almost all on THR is aware.

On gun control: I don't ever recall anyone winning a war by adopting a policy of giving up their land just a little bit at a time.

"The natural outcome of defensive warfare is surrender"- Napoleon Bonaparte.
Attempts to accommodate those who seek to take even a small part of that which is rightfully yours will guarantee that they get everything that is yours.

Good question, rbernie. I was wondering just how long it will take for this thread to get locked.

Locked? No, this is a great place to start.

Now, to whom should we address the letters (snail-mail, of course, cause they do more good)?

Fist, let's all write the NRA Board. Enough of this "both ends to the middle" "reasonable gun control" JUNK!!!

Real NRA members want NO COMPROMISE, so stop compromising, or I could stop sending my money.

See? Now we are Planning and Discussing.
