I wonder how much longer this can go on.

I do not vote for Boxer or Fienstien, I live in Texas, however I have to put up with their "world view" and their imposing of that world view on the rest of America.

Of course, because the leftists are the ones with the army of Brownshirts to spread their message, intimidate the opposition, and discredit or destroy opposing viewpoints.

Now the Religious Right is also guilty of this, but not neatly to the extent that I have seen among leftist activists.

Now I, no longer, refer to liberal activists as protesters, hippies, or Communists; instead I call them what they acctually are: Brownshirts or Sturmabteilung.

I am a regular reader of the Register (unlike most newspapers, they have a good sense of humour). The Register is primarily concerned with reporting on technology...
(and all IT pros I know concur that they are quite good at that. They have no respect for anything corporate or government.. And I like that. They have no respect for the people either... the only thing they respect is sound engineering.. )

Most of their resident vultures (they call themselves vultures) - see, because by fairly reporting on technology and refusing to be swayed by offers of money they bite the hand that feeds them..

They also have no problems at all thinking that when a CEO of Diebold says he is

"committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president"... and Diebold designs a voting machine that leaves no paper trail, and can be reprogrammed (and results changed ) by anyone with a screwdriver and a flash memory card....

That there is *probably* a connection between those two bits of information.

But they also like to troll. They troll a lot, and often very successfully, mainly because they firmly believe that politicians are up to no good. Always have been, always will.
(That's what I believe too. Power corrupts.. and I don't think pretending to be Christian has any connection to one's morality or strength of character. Christians shouldn't lie.. and voila.. the gov't started a major war by lying about reasons for it.)

I've been tracking the Left's reaction to Bush's horrifying election romp, and what's clear to me is that nothing has been learned. Nothing has been learned because no one on the Left is being honest. Their reactions range from bitching about the elections allegedly being stolen -- well duh! what'd you idiots expect from the Republicans?! -- to grotesque, clumsy soul-searching in the form of how Democrats need to get spiritual, get in touch with Middle American "values," or how the Democratic party either needs to move to the center, or the flip-side to this idiocy, move farther to the Left...that coastalites need start going to church more often in order to learn the ways of the savages, to be less secular-humanist, to shop less, to connect with Middle America, to understand Middle America, to allow Middle America to be Middle America, to suck Middle America's hemorrhoid-bejeweled ass and tickle Middle America's balls... What they don't have the guts to admit, once and for all, is that THE PROBLEM IS MIDDLE AMERICA. Stop blaming the victim, folks. Srry. I am equally incoherent in Czech, Slovak and English (but Czechs is almost Slovak)

a) don't have an obsessive habit of reading. Anything and everything. I have been known to read whole EULAs.
b) have shorter attention spans
c) think TV news provide "enough information" or are worth watching.

Please.. don't close the thread. I wonder what reactions is the "article "Gas Middle America" going to get from middle Americans...

Or perhaps... should I repost the "Gas middle America" as humorous ? It's a put down of elections.. after all.
There is some sound, fair and balanced reasoning in there.. I bet.
 
Y.T., the only thing i garnered from the second bit that you posted from the register, was overwhelming disdain for a set of traditional, 'middle-american' values that, a: happen to be held by a majority of americans, and b: are valued by those americans as much as many europeans seem to value the absence of god, responsible behaviour, backbone etc. in their daily lives and in their politics. those values, generally, are not 'middle-american', they are simply american. though, i understand where the venom comes from....there would be little understanding of these values in europe, given how tragically morally vapid that continent has become.

incidentally, insulting your intended audience, as you have attempted to do, smacks of an already lost debate on your part. this is a widely accepted rule of dialogue and rhetoric, the world over.

contributors are mostly Americans who emigrated to Moscow, or Russians who learned english.
It was taken out of context ( the link below). The context is a long rant by someone who is not leftie nor a right-winger but very angry about the state of affairs in the US. You can consider that guy elitist...

Yes.. though my outlook is more similar to the one Czech gun-owners have.
That it's not a fundamental right, but it would be insane trying to ban guns... as
-list all the arguments that are thrown in favour of RKBA.
-less than 5% of firearm crime in Czech Republic was commited with legally owned weapons.(moreover, all guns are "traced" by serial numbers, so there is not much overlap between illegaly possesed guns and legal weapons)
- and I do hope that NRA manages to convince people that the problem is not in guns, but in people.

I assure you sir that Americans of whatever stripe are not to be faulted for reading too much. Especially not reading from the Bible... I have yet to run into anyone who recognized the "sell your cloak and buy a sword" quote. (Must have been a milsurp sword, or a really good cloak?).

Blue Americans would be known in Europe for their sheeplike acquiesence to government control of all kinds... except that Europeans are just blue Americans with higher taxes (Andorrans and Liechtensteinians excepted, of course). Americans have no monopoly on stupidity.

BTW, how is the tax level in the Czech Republic? Is it worse or better than the US?
 
Tax rate... last time I heard they day of "tax freedom" (the day in the year when you start earning money for yourself) was in the second half of june. But that takes not only income taxes into account, but also health and social insurance.

Corporate income tax is 31%, income tax of real people range from 12% for poor people to 38% or something like that.

More taxes are paid.. but the health care is not private, and you don't pay tuition while studying at a university..

Maybe some other countries are known for being acquiescive to gov't control.. but Czechs and Slovaks are extremely mistrustful of gov't and not exactly acquiescive.
Not known for political correctness either. (derided as a lame US invention)

I have never read a more finely written masterpeice of leftist/Democrat/socialist bitterness, hatred and tantrum behavior. We should all think twice - or thrice - before agreeing to allow people who are filled with such rage, hatred and immaturity wield power of any sort, especially power over other people.

I have sometimes thought that "blue" state succession might not be such a bad idea. But what of the conservatives who have the misfortune of living in a "blue" state? They would become prisoners. There are many people, especially the retired, who could not afford to move to "Free America" in such a scenario. We could not just throw them to the leftist/socialist wolves.

Things look so good when you are riding down wallstreet in that big ole limosine, sending your kids to the best private school in NYC and living in a $23 million dollar highrise condo in the Trump tower.

Unfortunately you are in the distinct minority, most folks who live in NYC, live in a broken down 600 sq ft 3rd floor 2 room walkup with bad plumbing, unsafe electrical systems, for $3000 a month. They are the folks cleaning the carpet and serving your water at that fancy restaurant you take most of your meals at. Most folks who live in NYC are poor, working poor, and the schools they send their kids to suck. At least in

Podunk west they can have a little land and their own house, NOT IN NYC>


Limosine liberals trodding on the backs of the poor and oppressed, and too stupid or too evil to see the reality that, for everyone of them there are 10,000 poor New yorkers working 80 hours a week in a filthy socialist ****hole, cleaning your toilets, just to make ends meet.
