There IS justice in the world

Guys, before you start salivating over the opportunity to actually use one of those all-purpose-tools that some of us call boomsticks, think of this:

Is it just me or is that an incredibly poor choice of words? I don't see many people on this forum or others that are "salivating" at the chance to use a gun to kill someone. Maybe I'm being to sensitive about this, but not everyone has a "whatever gauge" steel door to hide behind, not everyone has the calm, cool, preparation and mental state at 3:30 am while someone is trying to kick in their door, to say:

IMHO, if someone gets through the steel door on the front of my house, they're a problem. If they don't, well, that's what 911 is for.

I think people do the best they can given situations and thank goodness this guy didn't have to spend the rest of his life in jail for the assinine actions of a drunk idiot. Could most of us be better prepared for these types of events, probably, but let's knock off the judging of this guy, the jury found him innocent.

I don't like the self righteous tone or implication that anyone that doesn't sit there and wait for someone to kick in their door is "salivating" at the chance to kill someone. Like I said, poor choice of words in my opinion.

I was not at the shooting. I was not on the jury. I'm sorry someone died.

We all have plans for various scenarios and such. We practice shooting. We take courses. We read about cases in the news and consider jury findings. We log on and compare notes and ideas. We play Monday morning QB on cases like this.

I know what I will do if I'm ever faced with Mr. Lore's situation. It's the same thing I always do - when I don't know what to do. I'll ask God for the strength to do His will and not my own.

How can you tell that there aren't five more guys behind the first one? When that door comes down, are you going to be able to shoot all of them? Because once the door is down, the only thing between a world of suffering and your loved ones will be you and however many rounds you have in your gun.

that said, this is a VERY strong argument for having metal gates on your doors.

Throw up all the possible scenarios you want, there's only 1 question to be asked here: Did Lore fear for his life?

If the answer is YES, it's a good shoot. Everything else should be immaterial.

Apparently 12 jurors thought so as well.
