Thermal or ir scope

Hello im starting to put together my coyote/hog ar15 and will save for some sort of night scope but don't know any thing about them a lot of people I've talked to like the thermal but was wondering if you would get better range with ir and a ir spotlight also pros and cons of both I'm looking for a scope in the $2k to $3k range would like to get a good one thanks

Thermal monocular for scanning, Night vision for scope. For your price range you can get both a decent 384 x 288 thermal monocular and a good night vision scope.
