After researching and learning about every fricken handgun for CCW I think I am ready to dive in. I've been close before, and this time I think that the
HK USP Compact hits about an 8.5 out of 10 as far as having everyting I want.

I must say that the P2000SK looks interesting as well for a CCW

Reliable
SA/DA with decocker & Saftey
.40
Under 7" long - failrly thin and compact.

Expensive....

Anyone have bad reports on this gun? From what I can tell it looks like a good'n

I'm on that same line of reasoning myself. I had a usp compact before and sold it. I still don't remember why. It was flawless, as well as the fullsize usp9 that I had. The P2000 with the LEM might be the one also. I haven't played with the trigger on it yet though.

In 9mm I love my P2000. A sticky over at HKPro shows you how to lighten the LEM trigger.

I have the USPc in .45 and love it. I got that in v 1 (I think) - DA/SA w/ safety/decocker. It's only a little thicker than the P2000.

I had a USPc and it was hard to keep on target. The .40 in a small platform is difficult to shoot. The gun never malfunction however and if it was a .45 I would have kept it. JMHO YMMV

USPc .9mm

finalcut, I just recently purchased a USPc .9mm and love it:cool::D It has to be the sweetest handgun I have ever shot. Accuracy is outstanding, flawless function. Mine has the magazine extension 13+1. I have not purchased a holster yet but am leaning toward something from Highnoon or K&D. So can't report on CCW.

SHOOT, CLEAN, LUBE, REPEAT:cool:

Congrats on your new H&K. You might want to look for flat base plates for your gun if you plan to carry. They aren't totally necessary, but make it print a little less in an IWB.
Again, congrats on your gun. Keep unjacketed ammo out of it and it'll last you a long time.

flat base plates

jason, what should I expect to pay? And do you mean just the plates or a new magazine:confused: I plan on going to a show this weekend and magazines are on my list ( need a couple for my P3AT )

Tim, Whose hoping his wife will increase his allowance this weekend:what:

The USP40 compact was my first gun. I shoot it okay, but after six years I still haven't warmed up to it. It is a little thick for concealed carry, the grip isn't very ergonomic, and the trigger is just so so. However, it is a light weight and very reliable gun. I have yet to experience any malfunctions with it. It's just not the gun for me.

Looking back, I probably would have been happier with a Sig229.

YMMV

I have the USPc40, 357 & 45CT. USPc40 will be my #1 semi-auto for carry once I put my new sights on it.

I think the plates alone go for like $7. If they're like the ones for the fullsize USP, they should just snap in like the extended ones.
HTH.

The USP compact is a great choice. I have one in .45 and love the thing. VERY accurate and so far 100% reliable. With the right belt/holster it conceals very well. You cannot go wrong with HK.

Another UPS .45 Compact owner very very happy... Although I don't use it as my CCW during the summers I do during fall/winters.

I've got a USPf 9 mm, USPc .40 cal and a P2000SK 9 mm. I like the P2000SK the best for CCW. It shoots great too.

Shoot it first. I love mine but still have difficulty shooting it accuratly. Some times I can cut holes in the X-ring and others I don't know where I'll hit. Mostly I don't know where it will hit. I would also call it more of a medium size rig versus a compact.
