Thinking about getting a Glock 36

Good, you are familiar with 1911's so you may understand my comparison.

Are you familiar with the Colt Officers model.

and Remington golden saber 185+p's.

If so and you can handle that combo effectively you will find the G36 to be a pussy cat to shoot.

I used to shoot this como. Long sad , damn I miss my " little O" story.......

Anyway, I like my G36 but I love my 4" Kimber compact.

I bought my G36 for pretty much the reasons you give.

Since I don't dislike the 36 enough to give it away on trade I'll keep it.
Unless the right person comes along. Hell I'm packing it as I'm writing this.

So, to answer your question IMO yes it is worth your time. But like me don't be surprised If you find yourself wishing you hadn't strayed from your first love. Personally I'd stay with the 1911.

I am currently working towards a Wilson Compact CQB or a Nighthawk Talon III if they will work with me on it. Actually if Ed Brown would offer a CCO sized version of his new Special Forces model it would be a done deal.

But to tide me over until one of those options can occur I am waiting for my favorite Compact 1911 to come home with a new finish and grip treatment.

Which is the main reason my G36 is getting excercised today.

I own two Colt CCOs, and feel it's an ideal CCW gun in the 1911 pattern, pretty much like Missouri Mule's 4" Kimber Compact.
With the lightweight aluminum alloy frame, it's easy to shoot with Winchester Ranger T 230gr JHPs. In 4.25" and longer barreled 1911s, I prefer 230gr standard premium loads for CCW, while in the slightly shorter (3.78") barreled G36, I like Double Tap's 200gr JHP.
In compact semiautomatic pistols, the G36 and Colt CCO are my two favorites for CCW. If you can handle a compact lightweight 1911-pattern pistol, you can handle the G36.
