Thinking about getting another handgun...

But I don't know which one to get.
I have a SIG P-225 and a CZ-75BD.
The ones that are on my list are...

CZ P-01. I will probably trade the SIG toward it or sell it off to pay for it if I go with it. The only concern is that it has a polymer recoil spring guide rod. Can a steel one be bought for it?

Either a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger 22/45. I have been thinking about a .22 auto pistol and I think either would do, but will have to handle and research both to decide on that one.

Springfield Mil-Spec 1911A1. I have wanted a .45 for awhile.

Ruger GP-100 or SP-101. I would also like to have a general purpose .357. Either should work for my purposes.

Maybe a Kel-Tec P-32. It would make a good little carry gun.

I can swing one, maybe two of them in the next two months.
Your thoughts?
Thanks.

In my experience, the .22 semi-automatic pistol is king of the hill. You can shoot a .22 an awful lot more than a center fire pistol for the same money, plus you've got less recoil to contend with, and no reloading chores. The accuracy I've developed over the years with .22s is directly transferable to other pistols. They're even a little easier on the ears, although they're as much trouble to clean and maintain as center fire pistols.

Pretty good list you have put together there. I can recommend all of them first hand except the PCR which, while I'm sure is a perfect little gun, I just have no experience with that particular model. No reason to think it would be any less than CZs other fine pistols.

22/45 would make for plenty of super cheap practice which could be beneficial. I think the Springfield MilSpec is one of the best values in centerfire handguns around. And everyone needs a good 4" 357 Magnum.

Having said that, if you are planning on carrying, a P32 is a very good gun to have handy every waking moment. ;)

Get the Kadet conversion for your 75bd (If it's a 9mm.).
If it's a .40 the Kadet won't work on it, IIRC.
Mine shoots better than any .22 pistol in it's class. ($250.00 or less).
It comes with 2-10 round magazines, .22 caliber barrel and slide, recoil spring, and guide rod.
Minor fitting is usually required.
It's a really neat .22, it feels exactly like your CZ, and will make your CZ trigger better.

caz223,

The CZ75 Kadet adapter will fit any CZ 75, 75B, 85 or 85B in any caliber, although some minor fitting may be required.

I was under the impression that the rails weren't the same width (Distance apart).
Hmmmm..... learn something new every day.
Thanks for the correction.

I have thought about the CZ Kadet kits, but for the prices that I have seen them at, I might as well just have another gun for my money.

Keep the Sig P6 (225) and buy a Walther P5 and an HK P7M8!! Then you will have the three finest handguns in the world!!

One more to go and I am there. Problem is I really didn't like the P5 fullsize that I checked out, maybe the compact if I can ever find one to hold.

Keep the SIG you will regret selling it.

Chris.

You're going to trade a Sig towards a CZ. Wow, talk about trading down. That my friend would be a major mistake. Nothing against CZ's but Sig's there not.

I decided to keep the SIG, and just go for one or two new ones, much to the relief of many of you.;)
But I disagree on the SIG being so much better than a CZ. The CZ may be a little rougher, but my CZ-75 will function with ammo that my SIG will not, and it points better for me. If I had to choose one out of the two, it would be the CZ.
But, bear in mind that I don't own a 1911 yet.:D

Just to get it out of the way, I almost feel obligated to add in the "Get a Glock" post :D

Seriously, the 22lr is a really good idea. Loads of good cheap fun in either the Buckmark or the Ruger. Then get the Mil Spec. The ones I've seen recently have been really nice.

I think a lot of times, the 22 conversion seem a bit high priced but consider that if you carry a gun defensively or use it in competition, the 22 upper allows you infinite cheap practice with the same trigger and manual of arms. Also, for a $350 box stock CZ75, it may not be as important but if you have a CZ75SA with a $150 trigger job from Evolution Gun Works and hand checkering front and back, maybe a high quality dot sight, then a 22 upper makes a whole lot of sense. ;)

I'll buy that P225 from you. If it doesn't do it for you, it should go to a good home. I have one P225 already, so you would be helping me out by making it an even two.:D

Temporary lapse of judgement.
New guns always look really nice in the display case, but when I get them home, I generally find something I don't like with them.
With the CZ-P01, I found it in the store.
The plastic guide rod.
It just screams "CHEAP" on an otherwise really cool gun.
If the could afford to put a steel one on my full size CZ, then they can afford to put one on the P-01 too.
I wonder, does the CZ-75 Compact have a steel guide rod?
;)
