Thinking about picking up a CRKT.

What are your thoughts on the CRKT C/K Dragon:

The only purpose for this knife would be self-defense BTW. I'm just wondering what people think about it.

I handled a few other knifes just like it made by gerber and buck but they both seemed to have handles that were to thick to carry comfortably concealed.

crkt makes some nice knives at a great price, and most of the ones i own have great ergos. the dragon seems like a keeper. i might pick one up. do yourself a favor and get yourself the steve ryan plan B, in addition. it's discontinued, but you can still find them all over the 'net, for less than $30. i have one, it's one of my favorite fixed blades:

The Dragon is a collaborative effort between the late Bob Kasper and Pat Crawford. Bob knew how to use a knife about as well as anyone in the world and Pat knows how to make a knife about as well as anyone in the world. Having handled the thing, I'd say CRKT is doing a good job of producing a heck of a SD knife.

that's a cheapo .45 haskell; they're not made anymore. it's basically a hi point, but cheaper.

I have the M16 Mil I love it I also like the Dragon.

The blade shape makes the Dragon an extremely effective slasher - constant cutting pressure throughout the entire cutting arc. You might want to "user friendly" the handle's edges a little bit, but it's an outstanding value for the money.

I carry a crkt m16 everywhere I go. It has a tanto partially serated edge that is perfect for anything from cutting up steaks to stripping wire. I have broken crkt knives in the past but that was after intensive abuse. I had an older knife much like the one you showed that was just a tanged knife no plastic. I could drive the knife into something sound and stand on it's side. I know dumb kid thing to do. I lost the knife on a hiking trip so always wanted to get another straight edge from crkt but went with folders for the longest time.
