Thinking of buying a .44

Now the OP needs to get a .357 Magnum to at least ride the cycle backwards

I started .357 and went to .44 and would recommend that route personally. However, to each their own and there obviously is not a correct one size fits all answer to any gun question. A couple things I would like to add are a receommendation to find some .44 Specials just to see how amazingly light they are compared to the Magnums. I really love the trigger on my 629 and it blows away the trigger on my SP101. Never tried a Taurus revolver, so I can't say how it compares. I was debating between the 629 and the RB, but went with the S&W because of the deal I found. If anyone qualifies for the terms at Bud's Police Supply, that is the route you should go. I picked up mine for $655 out the door and the best gun show price I've found was nearly $100 more.
Also, the finish on my 629 was nothing to write home about and it was brand new. However, I doubt anyone staring down the barrel of it is ever going to notice that... :D

I don't get it.
You have a gun you have only fired 60 times and now you want a 44 Magnum to shoot watermelons?!
No disrespect intended but I doubt you could hit a watermelon with a 44 Magnum at any decent distance.
I think you should make a deeper commitment to become proficient with the gun you own. Buy a case or two of ammo and get on a regular training schedule 2-3 days a week with your Beretta 92. When you can shoot 50 rounds into a 4-inch circle at 20 yards consistently then go buy whatever gun you want. Right now, you do not need another handgun. You need to learn to use the one you have.
