Thinking of getting a Hi Point .45

The only LE trade ins I'd trust would be Glock and their Gen 3 SF models cost a lot, the Gen 4's just as much. Add a threaded barrel I have to buy for $150 and the cost of just buying a new S&W is actually less, especially when a rebate may be involved.

I've had a number of LE trade-ins over the years and have NEVER had a problem with any of them. These included several S&Ws (including a 1073), Glocks, a Beretta, and two SIGs. If it's a gun that I'd otherwise be interested in, the guns that LE agencies trade in are typically carried a lot and shot a little. What wear you see will typically be holster wear, if that. If you can find one that has been reconditioned by the manufacturer, they will can sometimes carry a "new gun" warranty.

I've had 20-30, if you count milsurp and LE trade-in combined. I've had trouble with one. None of them cost more than a little over $300. Some were under $200. They are my preferred genres of firearms.

I had a Hi-point .45 once. It went bang unfailingly, and was accurate, but that's where the good stuff ends. Great truck gun, drop it in the lock box and forget about it till you need it. I gave mine to my son, and even he had the sense to trade up as soon as he could. Not a carry gun, they are bricks, and the safety is scary as far as carry is concerned.

I'd be looking ad the Shield .45 for want you want. Skip the supressor, it's like putting a 460 Lincoln in a Pinto.

Eyes and ears plus the hair on the back of your neck tell you when it's time to chamber a round. Lots of people carry a Hi Point cocked with the safety on. Never been an incident of an accidental discharge. It's my choice.
