Well, here I go again...

I've got a Beretta 92FS- pre-warning label- that I bought two years ago. It's a nice gun. It shoots with amazing accuracy. The only problem I have with it is that it seems unreliable after 300-400 rounds or so. Every range session or so, I get a failure to feed. I clean the pistol relatively regularly (every 2-3 range sessions). Basically, I consider this unacceptable performance. My only hangup with trading it in was that the Beretta was my first handgun and that when it functions well, it's very accurate.

If I trade in, I'm thinking of trading for a Glock 17 or Glock 34 (I have a Glock 26 and I want the gun to share magazines to cut down on cost). I want a gun that's accurate and that I don't have to clean.

So I guess question #2:

I have a Glock 26 that is relatively accurate for a pistol with a short barrel. How much more accurate is the G17; how about the G34? How are they in comparison to the Beretta 92, which I consider a very accurate pistol?

I was also thinking of sending the gun back to Beretta for a "check up", but I figure that'll cost me in the $200 range, which is money I'd rather put towards a whole new gun. Also, I really don't feel like paying the local FFL transfer fees to get my gun back, as they tend to be upwards of $40...

I'd like to add that when I shake the Beretta, I hear a slight rattle; is this normal? I brought it to a gun shop and they said yes. New Berettas, I've noted, do not have this "rattle".

What say you THR?

Beretta 92's a notoriously reliable, so there must be something wrong with yours. Have you tried changing mags? One bad mag kills a gun, any gun. The ONLY gun I have EVER had a malfunction with (FTF, FTE) was a Glock 19. All of my Berettas and S&W's have never malfunctioned at all.

Id check out the PX4 9mm. A buddy let me shoot his and I used the same bullets in both guns. The PX4 weighs ~5oz less but its recoil was noticeable less. I thought i was accurate with my 92F but at 10 yds, the groups were 1/2 the size and i was punching clover leafs with the PX4. As much as i hate to say it, I was thinking about trading it in for one.

i agree check the mags first and that should fix the issues, i don't like selling guns and i always hate it later down the road and always want the ones i sold back. But i did have a 92 at one time, and i sold it, and tell you the truth i don't miss that one at all. i am not a fan of them in the 1st place, and 2 i am not a fan of da/sa guns.
