I had an account there, but I guess because I am pro-gun and posted facts that they couldnt dispute, my account was erased. I guess freedom of speech is only acceptable here if you dont tell the truth. I would hope that some of you gun-lovers will go there and try to spread the truth.
John Kerry sportsmans forum
We are men of the word in a land of heathens

Quote from the Kerry-Edwards Online Forum rules:

"The Kerry-Edwards Online Forum was created in response to an overwhelming desire for civil discussion of the issues we face as Americans. This forum is dedicated to furthering that discussion, and to getting out John Kerry and John Edwards' message."

I think I may have found your problem in the last part of the second sentence.

Sometimes, it's better not to cast your pearls before swine, my friend...

You aren't as likely to open eyes in a mob as you will with one-on-one contact. I'm not saying you shouldn't try, but sometimes you have to pick your battles.

I'm not a sportsman. I don't hunt. Everything John Kerry said is against what I believe. The second amendment isn't about duck hunting, and Kerry's ACTUAL VOTING RECORD doesn't indicate he cares about your rights.

You'll note that this link is to the Bradys' website, not an NRA or GOA, etc, website.

Oh yeah, this thread needs to be moved to the L&P forum.

noonanda,

Apparently your truth is not the same as their truth. It was rude of them to close your account, if your discussions were civil.

Kinda tells ya something, right?? Good try on your part anyway.

Maybe the Moonies will take him in..... For the record, I don't think moderator would close, his account for speaking his own "truth" ,but there's a difference between posting your say and taking over. Was that his idea? I don't know. Its close to the election. We will have flamers and plants.... wow, maybe they want our vote. But they just don't get it. Gee

You can ask ben, I have been civil even in the face of personal attack by some of their members (big sky brad, Im ashamed to say he is/was/ a fellow marine. I posted as oklahomaman, and every post I have done on there is gone, I guess its like that Bad arnold movie "eraser"

TechBrute, thanks for that link. I have been looking for something like that.

Everyone should go there and check there Senators and Congressman/woman. I did and it was eye-opening. All of mine, including one Republican voted anti-gun 50% of the time or more.

I popped over and read the referenced disscussion. All I can say is, "It's good to be back home to THR."

I'm hoping my polite response will remain.

Here it is, in case it poofs.

I have also heard the arguement that no one ever talks about "knife control" and people are killled with knives all the time.
Rebuttal: you cant kill 1 person/second, at distance, with a knife, nor can you overpower someone that is much bigger than you. Guns can do these things. /QUOTE

From this, it would stand to reason that a physically smaller person is at the mercy of a physically larger person if only armed with hands or a knife. This is correct. It requires a very high amount of training to be effective with a knife and to not have the knife removed from you during a scuffle.

I'll let you know who I am. I am not a Bush supporter, nor a Kerry supporter. I do not find either to match my views, but both have some excellent points I can get behind, and some failings. I have still not yet decided.

I do own and use firearms for hunting, organized competetive shooting, and self defense. My wife relies on a firearm for as a part of her personal defense also.

I truly hope that neither one of us is ever forced to use one of firearms in an act of self defense, as the taking of a life for any reason is a damned shame, and will rest heavy on one's heart. But given the option of my, her, or our children's survival by undertaking the solemn task of firing on someone intent on hurting us, we are prepared to do so. We are both trained.

KenL is absolutely correct that it is extremely unlikely that one can draw, aim and fire accurately at someone who has already aimed a firearm at you. There is little one can do about this, but it is not the entire sum of situations in which a firearm should be brought to bear. If someone is kicking in your door, or reaching through the car window, or any other such moments of mortal danger, the presentation and intent to use a firearm has defused many a situation like this.

Police are an asset to society, and will do their best to protect you. But if the door is already coming down, or the car glass is already shattered, as fast as they move, it sadly may not be fast enough for you.

Like I said, I'm still pretty much undecided. Firearm rights are just one of the issues I'm concerned about, but I do not get a great feeling from either candidate. Less so from Kerry, due to past record of voting to eliminate or tax private ownership and usage of certain arms or ammunition.

best to you all- Cthulhu 138

Since they require registration, they will know who you are. If Kerry is elected, YOU will be erased!

Not a terriffically busy site, thankfully. I guess not too many "sportsmen" are falling for Kerry's "I'm a hunter, and a gunowner!" rhetoric.

It's good to be back home to THR

Amen to that!

I've seen that 'Ken' character on other boards and he elicits the same reaction in me everytime I read his drivel :barf:

It's truly scary to me that those people 'think' like they do and even scarier that they can vote.

And if you're reading this Ken, you said "Why should anyone be allowed to own a gun?" BECAUSE THE SECOND AMENDMENT SAYS I CAN...PERIOD

I'm registered over there, as well, but I've not been deleted yet. On the other hand, I've not found much to comment on as of late, since all the AWB moaning has died down.

Sportsman's Bill of Rights. How rediculous!!

If we start calling every thing a right, pretty soon the word right loses all meaning. There are certain true rights we have as human beings. But once we start talking about my right to hunt geese, my right to fish, my right to free education, my right to health care, my right to food, my right to access to public lands, my right to protection by the government, my right to safety, my right to access to employment, my right quality food, my right to safe drinking water, my right to day care for my kids, etc., etc, the word loses it's real meaning.

Man, cthulu, I read your post, went to refresh the site to see if anything had come up after it and it was gone.

Fascist cowards.

I can see now how KenL remains under the impression that he has never been bettered in any discussion revolving around 2nd amendment issues.

John Kerry and John Edwards will always support the Second Amendment right of law-abiding American citizens to keep and bear arms, such as rifles and shotguns, including semi-automatic firearms used by hunters and sportsmen across this country. Gun rights are fundamental for the sport of hunting, and they will vigorously support those rights as president.

What a load of garbage.

This reminds me of the fuzzily remembered American Rifle Association started by the Brady Bunch as a counter to the NRA. They had a magazine called Bolt Action Rifle as all we needed were deer rifles. I might have some specifics incorrect though. It was a few years ago.

The forum is pathetic. Simply a way to catch some deluded 'gun owners' who think shooting a bird is the core of the RKBA.

If anyone does want to argue on the forum, one might mention that the DOJ recently released a report demonstrating that the AWB had no effect on crime.
