A wonderful thread. I read almost all of the posts and since this is about The Lone Star State:
As was stated, Yankee carpetbaggers rewrote the Texas Constitution to make open carry illegal. As was also pointed out we are working on it. Our gun and self defense laws are very good. I have worked in supposed gold star open carry states but some of those states still do not reciprocate with Texas CHL. What is their problem? We recognize California and other states that do not recognize ours. Waiting on them!

I don't believe I would see any horns on you, son. What is your excuse?

Ain't much in Texas outside of jackrabbits, tarantulas and ugly women!
Nice statement from someone who runs dogs?
I love dogs. I just don't go around kissing them.
Texas has a more diverse makeup of flora and fauna than any other state. Brazoria County has recorded more bird species than anyplace in the USA. Many plant and animal species found here are found in no other place. Come visit our national and state parks. Simply wonderful.
My lovely Texas maiden I married 34 years ago grows more radiant each day. She loves me, our sons and grandson. She packs and can shoot too.
I challenge any state to match our Texas beauties.
Looks alone are not what make women in Texas Texas women. Not all Texas women will adorn the Hooter's calendar pages, but they are lovely in their own way. They love Texas.
Texans did die at the Alamo. Native Texicans, Mexicans that owned land deeded them from Mexico. They wanted freedom from Mexico too because they suffered under Santa Anna's tyranny as surely as any anglo settler did. They loved Mexico, but knew there was something much more precious than alegiance to a government that seeked to crush the little man. Read up on what really happened to push Texas to independence.
It will reinforce the lessons taught by our founding fathers of these United States and will make you yearn for what has been usurped by the menace. The reason our legislature only meets every other year is because we distrust government.
Not everyone who professes to be a Texan is a Texan.
Is Texas an idea? In a sense.
Is Texas an attitude? Not really.
Texas is a way of life, a way of thinking, a way of believing.
We listen to a lot. We just don't put much stock in words. ANyone can say they are a Texan. Actions speak louder than words.
