I was at camp with a sorta friend and somehow we got in a gun discussion, which led to an arguement.I asked him if he had ever shot any gun before and he said no. Then he goes on to say that the desert eagle is the "best gun ever" because thats what he sees in all of his videogames. . after that he went on bashing 9mm because it was too weak puney. All I want to say is I put him in his place and told him to stop playing so many damn videogames and if you do stop acting like you know it all.

Another wise man once said "Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person"

I think it was the same fellow who also gets credit for: "You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to".

bah, I play counterstrike all the time and have to say that I prefer the 9 in it since it's more controllable.

Then when it came to selecting a gun to carry, I started with a 357 and worked my way over to a 9. I like the controlability of a 9.

That said, remind hime that a hit with a bb gun is better than a miss with a desert eagle, or as he probably knows it, deagle:D

Remember shot placement is key!!

Ask him if he wants to be shot with a puney 9mm, or for that a .22. Next time you see him tell him that hit men use .22 pistols to kill then anyother gun.

"Learning about firearms from video games is like learning how to bat from collecting baseball cards."
You got THAT right...!

Jeez, it's always the jerks who've never touched (or fired) a gun who make stupid, baseless statements ABOUT guns!!! What the hell are they thinking, anyway...??!!

:fire:

I'm inclined to think they're not thinking much of anything beyond their little fantasy video game world. :scrutiny:

And like Jeff Cooper is quoted as saying, "owning a gun makes you armed like owning a guitar makes you a musician."

Whats wrong with video games. I'm 41 and love to play them. When I use a handgun or rifle in a game and like it I research it to see if I would like to buy one for real. Been thinking about the H&k G3. Anyone have any advise or opinions about the G3?

About the 9mm

I had one and it's nice for plinking. But for defence I would use the 45acp or SW .40. What gun you buy is your choice.:)

There are a few things that can be said for these video games:

-There is a lot of backup info on these shooter games such as firearm mfgr/models, muzzle velocity, mag capacity, caliber and such.

-The online shooter games teach team playing and tecniques.

-When I was a kid the only home game that required hand/eye coordination was....well I wont go there.

They are alot of fun but that's really it beyond that. But it's introduced alot of young kids into sporting firearms.

Have you ever played America's Army? The US Army put it out for free. It's probably the most realistic combat simulator on the market. I started reading a bunch of 'house clearing' articles, and it has helped my game immensely. :D

boo,

Welcome to the asylum.

Now why did you get all upset? He is a newb. You should have offered to take him shooting.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with video games. My favorite is the pinball on my pc. Nothing wrong, that is, for those of us who know the difference between reality and video games and don't base our "real world" deal on those video games. That's my experience.

do you have a link? sounds interesting...

Ghost Recon (and the expansions) is the game I'd reccomend most if you're going to try to 'learn' from a game.

Max Payne is NOT. Trust me, I've tried the leaping backwards thing- it really hurts the heiny when you land.

Edit: That is probably why he ran around with that look on his face.

Either that or it's because of where he was concealing a M4, two Ingrams, two Beretta92s, a DEagle, a sawed off shotgun, a pump shotgun, a Pancor Jackhammer, a high power scoped rifle, several grenades and molotov cocktails, a baseball bat, and a lead pipe :what: :what: :what:
