Time to pick this apart. Firstly, I commend the individual who fired on the suspect.

"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police said a desk clerk shot a man who was attempting to rob an east side motel on Saturday night.

Officers said that shortly before 9:30 p.m., a man walked into the Super 8 Motel, located at 2055 Brice Rd., showed a gun and demanded money.

Police said the desk clerk on duty then shot the alleged robber, Antoine Stephens.

Stephens, 20, was transported to Grant Medical Center and was in serious condition on Sunday morning, NBC 4 reported.

Police said he would be charged with aggravated robbery.
3 shots fired, all 3 hit the bad guy, gun was a glock 23, 40cal with 165g Gold dots "

HOWEVER, there are two things I find terribly wrong with this video. First and Foremost, the individual should NEVER have fired any firearm that close to that child's head. It's hard to tell exactly how far out of the line of fire she was, but I would think that she'd have some kind of permanent ear/hearing damage.

Secondly, WHY THE **** WOULD YOU KEEP STANDING AT THE COUNTER WITH YOUR BABY WHEN AN ARMED ROBBER IS THERE? That flys in the face of EVERY kind of sense.

Were I the guy, I wouldn't have taken that shot in the manner that he did. Using your co-worker as concealment while you draw is kinda a toss up...

He did what he did, and wasn't charged with a crime (as he didn't commit one) so all in all, I'd say it was good.

this has been hotly debated before here.

Some will claim that the angle makes it look closer than it was.

Some claim that no matter what it was too close.

Some take issue with other aspects such as the guy is running away yet the CCW'er still is firing.

I'm not taking sides at this point anymore. I'm just saying it's been discussed before and shortly somebody will likely post those threads.

Also, supposedly some CCW instructor offered on another forum to give the guy additional training and the guy took him up on it (the ccw'er was a member at that forum). I don't remember anymore where that was.

Yeah, I'm going to guess there was a little bit of tunnel vision going on there. But, then again, all shots fired hit their mark.

WHY THE **** WOULD YOU KEEP STANDING AT THE COUNTER WITH YOUR BABY WHEN AN ARMED ROBBER IS THERE? That flys in the face of EVERY kind of sense.

Umm fear? Fear kind of flys in the face of sense and can paralyze a person, especially if it something unexpected, like going out for milk and eggs and getting into the middle of a gun fight.

I see what you mean about using the co-worker for concealment, but it's not like he was using the co-worker for cover. Quite a deliberate move out from concealment and into attack. Regarding the child, what else could he do? I don't think we have the full facts because we don't know of the robber was armed do we? Guy had good gun control. 3 shots, at least 2 in the back, with 40 cal and the guy kept running. I wonder how far he got before he hit the ground. More evidence that a gun isn't a perfect death ray.

Shooter is an NRA member and CCW instructor. Child was 3ft to the left. Robber was returning fire over his shoulder and running for cover.

Good shoot, no mistakes on the part of the CCWer.

If you look closely at the ladys face she comes off upset/shocked at the CCW holder when he opens fire on the scumbag.

This tells me she was alittle too close for comfort but then agian the proof is in the pudding, 3 rounds fired 3 rounds hit there mark or in this case scumbag.

Add the loud ringing in the ears and shock of being in that situation your going to have a bad day regardless. He's a good man in my book.

This is an old video. If you search THR, you will not only find the original thread; but the shooter from the video adds his comments to the discussion.

And the story just got more interesting... Now if I could only find the original thread with the dreaded search tool... :scrutiny:

I actually think it was pretty smart that he used his coworker to shield his movement to get his gun. He appeared behind her with a muzzle pointed at the bad guy, good move.

If you watch, as the guy heads for the door, you can see one or two rounds pas through him and the door.

Some people also would just be in shock at seeing something like that happen. They would probably move or hit the deck if they thought about it, but it happens so fast and sudden they don't think.

I don't see a problem with the actions of the man behind the counter. The woman was probably just scared and confused after hearing a gun being shot in an enclosed area pretty close to her.

I'd like to see the original thread, but my search doesn't work so if anyone has it please post.

Some will claim that it's possible everyone was going to die anyway, so why not take a chance and fight like your life depended on it.

I'd be one to claim that.

If you are CERTAIN that the bad guy won't shoot you with his gun then by all means hand over the money......... I don't think I'll take that as a certainty though.

Happy ending seems to me.

That video warms my heart. I'm seriously impressed by the shooter, and also seriously amazed just how fast this kind of thing goes down. bam bam bam its over.

WHY WOULD YOU KEEP STANDING AT THE COUNTER WITH YOUR BABY WHEN AN ARMED ROBBER IS THERE?

I thought she did well to back up when the shooting started. She, like most people, wasn't expecting it.

I was amazed at how the other guy reacted. You would think he had the whole thing planned out in his mind. He realized what was going on and didn't hesitate to act, but didn't rush it either. Note that he could have freaked out and started shooting from his chair, but then the lady and baby would have been right in the line of fire.
