I thought it was petty cool. We preach to the choir a lot here but it's nice to see someone new come in.

I've never fired a gun in my life, but it's something I've talked about wanting to do for some time. Well, for Christmas my wife signed us up for hand gun lessons - it's a 4 hour class on handguns, with some time on a firing range as well - should be interesting and I'm really looking forward to it!

The place we're going also offers machine gun lessons -- and if we like the handguns, we can get a 1 hour one-on-one class on machine guns and get some time firing those as well. Sounds like it could be fun, although a bit more intimidating. It's $60 for an hour, including rental - but ammo is additional, and I have no idea how much a bullet costs -- but I can imagine it's not cheap, especially when with a fully automatic weapon.

Just curious who else has done something like this, and if it's a good time.

I started the year with two guns and will end the year with eleven thanks to my dad and some purchases of my own. In my Christmas stocking I got myself a pocket holster, an inside the pants holster, and some grips for my Kimber. Guess whose wife and kids think daddy has gone nuts?

I'm very new also. Bought my first pistol in Jan 09 and my first rifle around April 09. I found THR while Googling how to zero a M1A.

Now I've got a 9mm, a 45, a 22LR, a 5.56, a 7.62, and a 30-06 ... and find myself wanting a Mosin Nagant, a Mauser K98, and a Luger.

hahahaha he has no idea but he will understand very soon

FIREARMS are way more interesting than football lol

he will stop watching the monday night games at first give up the sunday games soon to make trips to the range before ya know it the "sports memorabilia" will be replaced with gun stuff no more jersey from your favorite player instead you will dawn your tactical vest the big screen will go out in lou of a better reloader youll take down your johny unitus poster and slap up a picture of JMB

ive shot almost my entire life but i didnt take true interest untill just a few years ago i used to watch sports and play music on my bass now all that stuff has gone the way of the dodo to be inevitably replaced with firearms and related accessories

i still catch a cowboys game once in a while but usualy just to tease a friend about the redskins

i even gave up on car tuning which i thought would always be my hobby car used to do 12 second quarters now im in a cheap ford pickup that couldnt do a quarter mile in a week and a half lol

very soon your buddy will find THR and it will be all over because once you realize the vast amount of knowledge available for firearms you just cant seem to be satisfied till you know it all which realisticaly is impossable

if he jumps into the handgun course and likes it hes going to do the MG course and NOTHING is as cool as full auto it may not be as precise as slowfire from a rifle but man that will convert 99% of people who have never fired anything into avid gun nuts and once hes hooked he will learn to be better first time i hit an army figure at 50 yds with a 22 i thought man i cant believe i can do that now im taking head shots on those same figures and i wont stop till i can take out the miniature radio or aim for an eye

poor guy just doesnt know what hes in for
