I need to know what this gun is worth. It's at an auction thats coming up it has a 14"bull barrel, Nikon 2x20 scope, and SN 402779. It's in good shape it also has a cougar on the sides which I think means its one of the older ones. I would like to know how much it's worth so I don't bid very high when I could buy another one cheaper. I was also curious about its accuracy I have read good things but am still curious to hear from anyone who has one. any help is appriciated thanks

They are very accurate but more difficult to learn to shoot when compared w/ a rifle. Most are MOA capable if you are. Anything under 550 is a steal.

I have this combo. I bought the frame and a .357 bbl for around $450 8 years ago. I bought the .223 super 14 bbl for $125 after the fact. I figure under $500 should get you there. Don't get all heated and into the moment if the bid goes too high... you'll get what you want sooner or later

I was figuring about 500 for it I saw a frame and grip on gunbroker for 260.00 and a barrel is a little less. Right now it has a 150.00 bid on it some guy marcus229 I thin. He has high bid on a bunch of stuff I totaled them all up and he's got 1175.00 spread about I have a hunch this guys going to be a pain.

I say 550 unless you really want it. I have a bunch of money tied up in my Contender and Encore. They can become an addiction if you dont watch out. I try to keep it in line but it is hard. I have two barrels for my Encore and 4 for my Contender. I use to have more but when I decide I am not going to shoot it I sell the barrel. The main cost ends up being optics. I don't buy cheap optics made in China. The cheapest thing I have on my Contender is a red dot sight. I threw it on my 7-30 Waters just to form some brass but I liked it so much I left it on there. But my .223 is running a scope.
I am still searching for my 10inch Octagon 22 Hornet barrel.

yea I got bit by the bug I was going to get a 30-30 barrel so I could deer hunt with we can't use rifles here so why not a hand rifle:D. I could use the .223 barrel to carry if I saw a coyote while running my trapline which I often due but never have anything bigger than a .22 pistol.

A 30-30 is a good round in the contender especially since you can load it with pointed bullets. Don't over look the 7-30 Waters it is a necked down 30-30 with a slightly blown out case. That is my caliber of choice for longer range shots. If I was hunting up close just about any contender barrel I own would take a deer or hog.

I chose the .35 Rem for deer. It's a great round with plenty of power. I also have a .22 Hornet, .357 Mag, and .223 for it. That covers just about anything I need to put a tag on :D
