The GOP didn't lose the election because of the war. They lost it because they failed to be conservative and do conservative things, like cut spending, make tax cuts permanent or tax reform, repeal gun control, etc...
True.
And FT is in line on those issues.

sure this isnt just more pretty talk from a "conservative" wannbie

Any have Fred's voting record?

Talk is cheap. In Washington....its worthless.

The Politico also reports that a number of staffers to former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush are expect to join Thompson's campaign.

Fred's done if this happens. I can see this happening too.
I guess this is why Ron is such a damn nice breath of fresh air.

So you are saying if former Reagan staff members join the FT team, he he done? Please explain.

I would say that in the popular eye, Reagan has become one of the most well-loved presidents in memory. How would his staff members going on board with FT hurt his chances, exactly?

The 2006 election debacle was over immigration issues WAY more than the war, particularly in the South, which is probably going to be more vital than ever in the 2008 race. If Fred comes out on the right side side of the border issue, which it seems he will, he re-energizes the conservative base, and he wins, end of story.

Both statements are rediculous. If you can't see the basic underlying differences between what FT is offering, and what the other Repubs are offering, you're covering your eyes and ears and chanting to yourself. What other electable Republican candidates have said anything like the following? Romney? McCain? Goulinai?

Ok, so he talks up limiting Federal power then supports the Patriot Act and the presidential line-item veto?

Sorry dude, I look at his voting record and I see more of what we have had for the past 8 years. No thanks.
