I bought this rifle used at the LL Bean store in Freeport and it had a weak mainspring, causing poor ignition and primers that backed-out a bit. The factory "repair center" said it had excessive headspace and declared it a "Dangerous Rifle". I didn't think so and went to a good gunsmith friend where we used his headspace gauge to assess both that rifle and a brand-new standard 700 ADL. Both rifles had identical headspace!!!
A few months ago, I noticed that Remington had a sale on firing pin assemblies, so I bought and installed one in this rifle and it cured the problem of primers backing out. It also improved an already good grouping ability. So---Poo on you, Remington Repair Center!!!
