Hello all!

I have a new RPB/MPA 30 on layaway. Its a top charging sten model.
Do you guys have any experience with RPB MACs? Any general statements regarding the MAC series of weapons? Everyone I have come accross really likes the RPB MACs. $140 more than the leinad, but I am willing to pay for better quality.

I am purchasing this pistol for general amusement and as a beater plinking pistol that would make the VPC poo itself.

Furthermore, if I like this style of heavy, unweildy, innacurate pistol, I may invest in 2 or 3 stripped lowers to declare as an AOWs for supression.

If I were to obtain two stripped lowers and declare them as an AOW (AOW = any other weapon as classified by no stock, also having a second grip (foreward grip)) they would not apply to the AWB. If this all worked out, I could legally supress it if something (heaven forbid) extended the ban. If the ban dies... oh well, guess Ill supress the one on lawaway too! (Can only declare AOWshipness on blank receivers) BTW I do write to my senators to keep them straight on the AWB subject.

Any thoughts on building a MAC? Im thinking a LEINAD $29 lower, RPBUSA side charging upper with all internals and a RPBUSA parts to finish of the project.

Thanks gents! I really like this board!

mpa makes 2 models.1 in 45 acp(mpa 10)which mimics the original ingram mac 10 and the 9mm version(mpa 30) which mimics the original SWD mac 11.the 45 version costs about 20 bucks more from them than the 9mm version.(dealer cost around 275 new and 1 mag)the 9mm takes sten mags, the 45 takes greasegun mags..9.95 each mag.they are a good gun,cnc machined and heat treated(unlike leinads)they make a latch on "safty extension" for both guns that looks much like a fake silencer.it doesnt do anything except add more barrel length really.mpa also makes side cocking uppers and a whole bunch of things for their macs.theyll send you a catalog for free if you email them.id stay away from the leinads altogether and just get the complete mpa gun.

Minor technicality. That's a vertical foregrip. A foregrip parallel with the barrel makes it a post-ban semiautomatic assault weapon.

BTW, seen the latest thing to strap your select-fire M11 lower to?

If starting with a stripped receiver or pistol receiver, as you said earlier, yep. AOW.

BTW, if you merely want a suppressed MAC type pistol, you might consider just getting a pre-ban and adding the suppressor. It may come out cheaper than manufacturing an AOW. Remember, it costs $200 to make the AOW, on top of the price of the gun.

Im scared though

I think pre-ban macs go for around $400 correct?

I would be really frightened that I would buy a *bad* one. I wouldnt know what to look for. This is the primary reason im purchasing an MPA pistol, as almost everyone has positive experiences with them. I have, however, heard both good and bad about every other MAC manufacturer out their.

I would be very frightened to take home a jamming pre ban mac. I would be really angry and irate.

Some people say:
Lienad is good
Lienad is bad
Mac is good (What are the chances in hell of finding a real MAC without 81923128 rnds through it?
Cobray is good
Cobray is bad
RPB is good
RPB is bad

Other topics include:
Lienad has trigger slap
Lienad doesent have trigger slap
Lienad is cheap junk
Lienad is ok for what it is
Cobray is cheap junk
Cobray is good stuff
Cobray hurts my finger
Texas macs suck
Texas macs are good
Cobrays zytel mags break
Cobrays jam allot
Lienads jam allot
Mags are getting expensive

However these maintain some consistency:
Powder springs macs are good
MPA macs are good
and
Sten macs are the most desirable

What can you tell me about gunshow macs? What should I look for and what should I avoid?

I have access to a real, Powder Springs, suppressed Mac!0. I've fired a couple of thousand rounds through it. Other than the fact that it's a cheaply-made p.o.s., I've never known it to choke on anything. Why don't you get an adult-type pistol of some kind?

$400 sounds about right. Can't tell you what to look for in the assorted pre-ban MACs. I've never owned one. I have a Cobray M11/9 subgun and it functions quite well.

care to elaborate...?
Sorry, forgot the link. They're made by SOCOM Manufacturing and sell for a steep $5,995.

They do look fun though! :)

Because adult style pistols arent cool in my book right now. :D

The only adult style pistol I want is a Kimber eclipse ule. Out of budget range. I am not buying the MAC to clear houses with, or defend my home. I am buying a conversation peice and a (hopefully) fun plinker.

they are fun novelty guns.but...they are ALWAYS hungry and expensive to feed.betcha cant shoot just 1?:D

Have they changed the tax on AOW's? I thought it was a $5 stamp.
