I like the tomcat

GIJOEL,

I have owned a TOMCAT for about 3 years. I bought it to replace a .32ACP KEL-TEC that could not fire off a single magazine without a jam. I tried several different brands of ammo and it just did not matter.

When I took the TOMCAT to the range, it was much easier to shoot, but still jammed every once in a while. I was using WINCHESTER WHITE BOX which is my usual practice ammo.
Well, I tried different brands and presto, 100% reliable with AGUILA fmj. I looked at the rounds side by side and the WINCHESTER has a flat tip, while the AGUILA has a rounded bullet. That solved that problem.

For a carry load, I tried HYDRO SHOK which worked well, but not perfect. GOLD DOT, SILVER TIP and also MAG TECH also worked some of the time.

Then I did the same thing for the TOMCAT as I did for an unreliable feeding SIG. I loaded it with COR BON Powerball. Again, problem solved. I have fired 120 rounds of Powerball without any problems.
I have fired almost 500 rounds through the TOMCAT without any signs of cracking. The last 350 have not produced any jams or misfeeds.

Like the COLT LIGHTWEIGHT COMMANDER, it is meant to be a gun carried much, but shot only occasionally. I wear mine almost daily.

Also, the tip up barrel may seem like a gimmick, but makes a lot of sense when dealing with a really small gun and round. Instead of racking the slide, you can leave the hammer down or put on the safety, load a full mag and then pop up the barrel to load a round in the chamber. That is how I do it.

In my experience, these small pistols are more sensitive than larger pocket pistols like the old COLT 1903 Pocket model and BROWNING 1910. Both of these guns have fed ball and hollow point without a problem.
Also, my BERETTA 82 in .32ACP and 84 in .380 are just as rock solid reliable.

HEY JOKER, your kidding about the .22lr, aren't you. Maybe in a rifle, it would have a power advantage, but in one of the 2 inch barrel mini pistols?
A rifle loaded with STINGERS would hurt a lot, but probably no more than my larger .32ACP pistols loaded with a good hollow point.

I had an Inox Tomcat about 8 years ago. It was very accurate, but failures to extract would occur after 50 rounds, the trigger was so heavy the double action couldn't be measured on my Lyman digital trigger guage, the grip screw would back out under recoil and the firing pin broke when dry fired on a fired case. I think I had less than 200 rounds through it.
Turned it in in a gun buy back. Good riddance.
Oh, if pocket carried it wanted to turn upside down.
