I always wanted one of these but never had enough money to spare. But now that I'm making more money I figured I'd put one on lay-away.

Anyway I choose a brand new High Standard HSA-15 16" bbl Carbine. These HS ARs just came out this year so I can't find decent feedback on them yet. Anybody here have any experience with these?

Anyway, this AR really appealed to me. The thing that I liked about it was:

- Its a new brand AR so it has a very low serial #, 00773. (Strangely enough my SAR-1's is 50773.)
- Its magazine well markings are simple and more military-like. It doesn't have a huge (ugly in my opinion:barf:) colt, rock river, or bushy billboard on it.

High Standard
Mfg Co Inc
Model HSA-15
5.56 NATO
00773

- And for $799 it was among the cheapest ARs that wasn't used.

There was a $600 Rock River 16" but it had a M16 stock instead of the tele-stock and didn't look as nice.

Anyway I figured I'd broadcast my joy and happiness to this forum

I saw HS AR's at a gun show a few months ago. That is much cheaper than the prices I saw. As above, please post a range report.

Not knocking anything, but it seems like you are very much concerned with looks, and no function.

Though I'm glad there are those like yourself that go on a limb and buy products not field tested for a while. I look forward for your range report.

I think that must account for 75% of the Ar15 market. They want a tacticool looking weapon to impress the mates and such with about 10ibs of addons including a kitchen sink.

Well, there isn't much to go on in that regard being brand new AR clone. But yeah, being a nice looking gun is a real plus for me.:D

But I did read this solitary gunblast article while I had the rifle on hold http://www.gunblast.com/HighStandard-AR15.htm

Actually all Im going to put on it are some 4x30 optics. Rails and lasers on an AR are ugly and bulky in my opinion.

If I wanted a pimp job then Id've got a used AR for alot less.

Please post a range report later. Sounds like you did well.

Probably wont come home with me for about 2 more weeks. I can't afford to blow that much money in one week. But I'll sure to post one.
