THR vs TFL

Well said, Rich.

The way I see it, having more gun boards available on the Web just means more opportunities for new gun owners to find good information. As a fairly recent "convert" myself (before 3 years ago, I had never fired anything more powerful than a Red Ryder BB gun; I was never against guns, I just didn't realize much fun they can be), I have to say that if I hadn't found TFL three years ago, I would never have learned as much as I did in such a short time. Now, I'm the guy that my friends come to when they have questions about guns, gun laws, or gun rights, and when I can't answer, I point them to a few sites to learn more. I'm glad I now have one more site where I can send folks who want to learn.

If not for TFL, I might still have no idea about a lot of these things. It's good to know that seekers now have yet another site to look to for good information, good discussion, and good friends.

Long live TFL. Long live THR, too.

I think that there have been no finer gun forums, or resources, throught he years, than TFL, and now THR.
I joined THR as soon as it opened, and I am already back on TFL.
I see my same friends in both places, and I think its just great.
Welcome back Rich.
Oleg, Thanks for offering THR in a time of need, and don't worry, its gonna be as strong as ever.

I'm just thankful for both web-sites
My thoughts exactly. I was an internet newbie back in 1999, did some searches from my home page on "gun control". Found some "chat room" sort of discussions. Somebody mentioned "1911forum.com". Went there and it became my home. Then found TFL, couldn't join because I had a Hotmail account, finally realized I could get another email account and joined.

1911forum has degenerated, in my opinion, to a site where you only visit if you want to learn about 1911's. Lost the "family" aspect, if you will. TFL filled that void, and the THR took its place.

Now we have both. I can't see how that would be a mis-fortune. Heck, I have time to visit both, several times a day, and I WILL.

Now with both back on the web, I am kind of worried they will start to become mirror images of each other. Same question or post, different boards... hopefully it doesn't do that. :(

agree with sentiments above..........very glad to have both, and thankful to Oleg, Rich, and all others dedicated and willing to make both THR and TFL succeed.

I discovered and joined TFL only a few months before it closed in '02. Joined THR within a day or two after Oleg and others launched it. Been here ever since. Although I don't post a lot, I visit the site several times a week to catch up on things and learn from those more experienced than I. THR is a magnificent resource for RKBA and the "general practitionery" of firearms, from marksmanship to maintenance to safety, etc. TFL was the same, and, fortunately for us all, will now continue to be, again.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Rich, Oleg, mods, all of you who make these forums go,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

"Us vs. them"...? Nah. I plan on enjoying both forums. :)

Well said, Rich! I'm grateful to both you and Oleg for providing the two best firearms forums on the 'net.

Code:
TFL AND THR??????

And who said it wasn't my birthday:D

Good thing you folks didn't merge the two-
"The High Firing Line Road":what:

There's a reason Rich started TFL and made it such a success. There's a reason Oleg carried on with THR and made it such a success. You could say they're cut from the same cloth. Let's enjoy.

I am kind of worried they will start to become mirror images of each other
Don't worry WKW, I will only post ignorant ideas on one forum. Then when I sleep on it, I will seem enlightened on the other forum. ;)

Outstanding.

Although I am new to this whole subject, one of the first forums I found
several weeks ago was TFL, and I did read a few of the subjects
that were of interest to me. My sentiments were how sad that such
a valuable resource was closed.

Very glad to have this up and running once more!

Thank you.

Best, ab

I've been hanging arounf TFL from the 1st or 2nd week & an on again off again lurker here from day 1 or 2.

Both sites will complement each other & without a doubt "take the high road", now if the memers could just follow the example of the leadership of both sites.

I for one feel that these two brother sites are the best of the best on the internet & can only complement each other as only brothers can.

More is always better. I always visited TFL from time to time and used the PM function when THR was down one time. I am glad TFL is back and I ma glad THR is here. I will be spending a good deal of time at both,

It is all good!:D :D :D

Hi Rich,

I'm excited you are re-opening. My understanding is THR would not exist if it had not been for TFL. Also, there is an enormous amount of useful information still at TFL that will come to light anew by people new to TFL.

I think it will be a great supplement to THR. There is definitely room for both and I'm glad you see fit to get The Firing Line back on its feet.

Also, thank you for all your hard work in giving us The Firing Line, to begin with. I have received a lot of help from your website. Thanks.:D

Believe it or nor I go to other sites besides these two. I like getting the info wherever it comes from. I'll be posting on TFL and THR.

When I first started visiting THR and later becoming a member I noticed a lot of sig lines stating members were TFL survivors, former members, and alumni. Seeing these sig lines and reading some of the TFL posts referred to on various threads, I felt that I had missed out on something by having not been associated with TFL while it was in operation.
I think it's fortunate that those of us who hadn't been a part of TFL now have a chance to do so. I'm looking forward to becoming a part of TFL. I hope to see familiar names there as well as here.
Now if I can figure out how to fairly divide my time between the two. :uhoh:

Uhmm.........Can someone please tell me how I find out my member #?

What controversy? :D Oh, you mean those folks that just like to stir the stuff up no matter what the topic is?

stevelyn - Click the profile button on your post and look at the address bar on your browser - your number is at the end of the address. You're #4128.

Rich,

First, thanks for this note and for your continued support of our community. Since TFL’s hibernation, I have been active on THR and Shootersville. I am delighted that TFL is being reactivated, and I hope WE -- and it really is the collective actions of this community that will be decisive -- can keep the discourse civil, as well as highly informative. There is no competition among these sites; they are mutually supportive, especially when so many participants contribute to multiple sites and when we unfailingly treat each other with respect.

With best regards -- Roy

I was around TFL in the late 90s up until it went under in 2001 or so.

When did TFL get reactivated?

I'll be posting alot at both here and there. Can't ever have too many good quality forums regarding guns!
