Three break ins this week

Seems to me that these three incidents you've outlined - the suicide, the two men asking to see the house, and now these break-ins where nothing was taken all point to one thing: someone thinks that something of value is in the house. You've received some good suggestions along that line. I think Fiero had a good idea: ask an attorney about having the cops come in to look for drugs or contraband.

Don't forget that if you do startle an intruder...he may have his buddy(ies) around the corner as a lookout/backup.

camera monitoring, they are not that expensive anymore. Catch the person attempting entry and give photo to police.

Hmmm the prior resident not so sure of due to him commiting suicide although about a month ago a couple fellows showed up saying there from Portland Oregon and were related to the man that used to live here i let them look around the yard and at the outside of the house but when they asked to go inside

previous owner had something valuable hidden

The story you are telling just screams this to me. Be ready. Be very ready.
If there is something of GREAT value from the previous owner, they may be willing to get very brave to attempt to retreive it. Worse would be if they thought you had actually found it or knew if it's location. They might decide to get very nasty to get info out of you (whether you have info or not).

only a few options really...

1. Call the Police. Show them the damage, get the paper trail started in your favor.

2. Harden the area. Lock the shed. Get cameras, a dog and a sidearm.

3. Get a Claymore mine and just go nuts

I would suggest doing 2 of these things. Your choice.

My guess is you have a bonafide pervert stealing underwear. We had a guy get caught doing that exact thing in Montana when I was in High School. <No, it wasn't me>. when they checked his bedroom, they found dozens of stolen "unmentionables".

He also had a fondness for sheep, but that's another story.

Maybe, (I know this sounds weird) but, you could try placing a set of bait underwear outside, like if you dropped them coming home from the laundromat. If they are still there days later, then you can rule out (for the most part) the pervert/stalker part. I would also get a sign (or make one) saying, smile, you're on camera. And, I'd reinforce the entry point, as previously stated, but w/ steel. You ought to rip the house apart to make sure there is nothing valuable inside the house. Oh, and a gun is a GREAT idea.

I really wonder if the OP is legit with this, as he hasn't posted since yesterday and this is a pretty live thread. If I'm wrong, please forgive my suspicions, but, I would call police and show them the evidence, fortify the grounds then monitor the place to try and catch them.

I think you might want to look up in the attic. You may have someone watching someone in your family with ill intent. Once, believable, three times something stinks in Denmark and I would want to know what the heck is up.

Time to set up some bobby traps.

Dry chem fire extinguishers mark people well. rig to trip wire to spray perp.
(illegal advice removed by moderator.)

Set up metal pots other objects to fall to the floor if windows or door is opened.

In my shed i have a old car horn rigged to go off if the door is opened more than a few inches without disabling. I recharge the battery every few months in the garage and than put back in shed. (Helps to have nosy neighbors for this one to work)

This list is not all inclusive, modify as needed.

I think you have albino rats. I'd suggest placing several of the largest serrated jaw rat traps you can find in the unused kitchen. Since albino rats are very photosensitive remove all lightbulbs from the shed and the unused kitchen. I'd bet something will set them off pretty soon. A motion sensitive camera to take pictures of the rats getting caught in the trap would be good.

Just kidding. Really.

Sounds like the original tenant of the house might have hidden something in there. Maybe that's the reason he died, maybe that's the reason those people wanted to just come inside and snoop around. They wanted to get what they were looking for.

I'd say call the cops... file some reports... Get them on your side... so if you're there and you have to defend your property, you won't be like, "oh... by the way, they did this before"

Wow, this thread is more interesting than an episode of Dateline.

Is it just me, or does the OP seem kind of nonchalant about all this crazy business?

Not trying to insult him, just saying that I'd be spazzing out.

How about one of these babies?

Wire it up just with the wire just inside the shed. I'm sure the report from a 12ga. blank in that enclosed space would make even the most determined goon think again and alert everyone to the presence of unwelcome guests.

Naturally I would not suggest the use of anything but blanks in this situation, as is mentioned on said link.

Please report this to the cops!!!!! If you come home and catch the guy and end up having to shoot him and they find out you didn't report the previous burgluries, they'll try to paint you as some vigilante. Happened in Macon,Ga about 8 years ago. It just gives them something else to nit-pic over. My friend was told he may not have had to use deadly force if the cops came and investigated and were able to catch the guy.

Anyway to tell if you have food missing? A homeless person could act this way. We had homeless sleeping in an unused attached area at our store until we put a lock on it.

an earlier poster mentioned about teens breaking into homes, stealing nothing, and just living there while you are not. That was my first thought when I read this. I cannot remember the name of the game, but I would still call the police (and check the air vents for cash and diamonds)
