Three home invaders shot by citizen

January 13, 2005

A home invasion Wednesday night ended up landing three suspects in the hospital.

Police say three men entered a home on Whites Creek Pike around 8:00pm. Officers say they assaulted the husband and wife, but the woman managed to escape to a neighbor's house.

The neighbor returned and shot all three suspects. One man was found with a gunshot to the neck at the scene.

Two others managed to drive themselves to Skyline Medical Center.

invaders....

the neighbor comes over.... :uhoh: GREAT!!!! gives new definition to "community policing", doesn't it????

Whaddya wanna bet the newspaper prints a rash of "He shoulda been a good citizen and waited until the police got there..." editorials?

Sounds to me that the invaders got off lucky...

On a side not, I hope to one day have neighbors whom I can rely upon with my life.

This story warms my heart.

Who knows what would have happened if they did decide to wait for the police. Hostage situation? Dead homeowner?

Maybe you'll look at this incident differently if you see The Rest of the Story:

About 8 p.m., four armed men broke into a home in the 3800 block of Whites Creek Pike, and the homeowner got in a shootout with them, police said. Three of the men were injured, two critically. One of the intruders was found at the home, and two were driven to Skyline Medical Center by the fourth. The homeowner and his wife were not seriously injured, police said.

Police said drugs were in plain view in the home and that the home invasion may have been drug-related.

The presence of drugs in the home could alter the perspective somewhat, depending upon your stand on preventing others from using drugs.

Food for thought... Does a person give up their right to self defense or defense of others if they have, in their possession, something that our culture has deemed undesirable? Think carefully, because most of us Second Amendment believers fall into that category.

The moral is: If you choose to live that lifestyle you need to expect things like that to happen. If you don't live that kind of lifestyle the odds of you having to deal with that type of a home invasion are significantly less.

Jeff

drugs or no drugs, everyone has a right to self protection.

Agreed ... however when one gets involved with the "drug culture" their chances of having to defend themselves increases quite a bit.

Goblins shooting other goblins.
We don't know that ... the fact that the shooter isn't in jail tells me he's probably an upstanding citizen ... if he where another criminal then he'd be in jail if nothing else for possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Half the people in my neighborhood would probably come over and help the invaders, claiming that they were the product of a bad upbringing and didn't deserve to be shot. They'd likely jump in front of the invaders to protect them.

now don't go jumping to contusions

So what?

Was this a pound of coke or a couple of joints?
Were they illegal drugs? We need more information.

Sounds similar to a newspaper publishing that the police found "an arsenal" when what really existed was a .22 rifle with half a brick of Wildcat .22s and a H&R Topper with a box and a half of loss leader Dove & Quail loads.

I have some prescription drugs right here on my computer desk that most street punks would wet themselves over.
Does that negate my right to waste any slimeball who comes in my home?

Well, you'll only have to shoot the first 5 of 6 and then the rest of the flock will scatter.

yes the title IS spelled correctly

That's hardly an arsenal even by "anti" standerds.

I don’t know how familiar you are with that RAG....uhhh........gune pig cage liner............ the Tennessean newspaper but around here they are well know for their VERY liberal slant and can tend to make stories SEEM more then what they actually are. I will reserve judgments until MORE than one source is talking about the drugs. I have not seen much news in the last 3 days because of work but I do not trust every word of that rag.

Just my opinion of the newspaper.

"They'd likely jump in front of the invaders to protect them."

What better argument can there be for high-capacity magazines?
