.338 Laupa Magnum? Shoulda used Barrett's M82A1 in .50 BMG. That'll slow em' down. Then you can be a mile out, and no need to worry about being blown up. Or, alternatively, use thermal imaging to eliminate targets behind walls (see Navy Seals, movie).
Extremely difficult, yes. But if my memory serves correctly, a potentially possible shot. I belive that histories greatest sniper shots were approximately one mile out. I don't know that there is a substantial difference between .338 and .50 though. I think Hathcock in Vietnam had a longstanding record with a .308, which was recently beaten by just 50 or a hundred yards by a Canadian sniper team in Afghanistan with a .50
