Thrify Compact scope with Duplex reticle

What power range and how compact?

The bugbusters used to be pretty decent scopes, but i have bought one in quite a while, sont know if they offer a duplex reticle anymore.

I don't know your definition of compact, or if it has to be that same 2-7x magnification, but the Bushnell Banner line is pretty decent for the price as is the Athlon Neos. I don't think either are as short as that Monstrum, though.

I've seen this UTG Bugbuster get some decent reviews as a cheap compact 22 scope as well, bit you'll get a mil dot reticle.

It's nowhere near as compact, and is a shade over $100, but I'd put the Burris Droptine above all those. It comes with a ballistic plex reticle, which isn't quite a pure duplex but pretty close.

Again, not really compact, but this Primary Arms 3-9x44 is a solid value under $100. Ticks all your boxes except maybe compact enough.

I'd like to keep it under 10". Something like 2-7 or 3-9 x 32.

Funny, I've wanted to get a Bugbuster for years to try. I should of thought about that. I'll check thier website.

Thanks. See you post above.

I didn't realize bug busters had come down in price

Ya, for some reason the 3-12's are cheaper than the 3-9's too. I think the 3-12's are newer to the lineup, so don't know why that would be the case. In any event, as long as you don't mind the mildot reticle instead of a duplex it would seem to be a good fit.

The Monstrom may be compact, but all the gadgets add up to 15 oz. The Leupold is 11 oz. There is NOTHING out there under $200 MSRP I'd touch. The $300 Leupold will be cheaper in the long run. And at $300 that is a budget scope. Buy once, cry once.

When it comes to “thrifty” this is about as low as I would go and still have a nice scope

I recently have been "spoiled" by the VX-Freedom's.

I'm gonna be hard pressed to buy anything cheaper than one. Really like my 4-12x side focus. And the 3-9x's I looked at of theirs were very nice as well.
The freedoms are a solid set it and forget it option in the $250-300 range.
If for some reason you do have to go cheaper, I would take a look at the Sig Whiskey3 for 3-9s, and the Burris 4.5-14x42 ffe1s...... Actually I take a look at this Burris Drop tine also.

If weight isn't a huge factor then I'd also add the Athlon Argos HMRs which run 2 to 300.

@danez71 If you're willing to spend more than $100 on the optic, then there's a 3 to 12 from US optics. It's actually really nice and very small.... Think I paid $250 for mine.

The turrets on mine are pretty good. But it's a hunting scope and I don't plan on dialing a whole bunch with it.

I splurged on the Tri-MOA reticle specifically to avoid dialing as much as possible actually.

If I felt the need to I'd be more willing to.

This scope isn't intended to be a high volume high recoil long distance high volume match quality scope.

I've been served well by a few of the simmons 22mag scope over a couple of decade.

While I do have a better scope, they have done well for their intended purpose

Just looking for a thrifty compact scope for to match the purpose

I do appreciate your input and suggestions.
